Edit: What I really love about your style of writing, Cloudy, is that you never fail to make the characters come across as believable. To me, that is one of the biggest achievements any author of fiction can accomplish.
In particular, Pinkie's defense to how difficult it is to plan and brainstorm in her line of work really hit home. Nothing gets under my skin more than when authors fall back on the already-overdone shtick that Pinkie's a fourth wall breaker and lunatic on a constant sugar rush; it seems so forced and a terrible waste of a character's potential.
You, on the other hand, manage to emphasize that underlying focus and pride that she takes in baking and party-planning. It was a fairly unkind thing of Rarity to claim, even if she didn't mean it; how would she feel if somebody else came by and casually mentioned how simple it was to look beautiful all the time?
Rarity's losing her creative muse? Scandalous! A bit of an overdone topic in that regard but that is probably my only complaint about the chapter. Rarity more than makes up for it by embarrassing herself with a fruit bowl fez! The fact of the matter is that it can be very hard to acknowledge that someone else had a great idea in a field that you consider yourself to be an expert and even more difficult when that idea turns out to work. Her willingness to at least take Pinkie's suggestion to heart puts a bold face on that humility and willingness to adapt.
A fantastic start to what I'm sure is going to be a fantastic RariPie fic. Keep up the good work and take care!

I mean, if the characterization worked for you, that's pretty much the biggest point of praise imaginable considering that I find it both the hardest and most rewarding aspect of this all. I share your thoughts on Pinkie here: She does break the fourth wall and generally acts a menace in the show, but it's not all she is. There's a real pony underneath. I think Swarm of the Century is the best example of both these aspects of her; she acts "silly" and out of touch, but there's a method to it, and there're very real feelings there too.
The setup of the fic probably isn't a huge upset, but I hope (and perhaps even have to believe) that the fic has enough unique traits going forwards. Here's hoping!

And this; I'm sure I could've played up the opposite approach here and made it a point of drama, but it really isn't the focus of the fic, and since this is very much a post-S2 fic (what else?) I like poking at friendships that are advanced by now. They know how to work together even if they don't see 100% eye to eye all the time.

Very interesting. There's such an odd dynamic between the two, though it's more like it's odd that Rarity had lost her touch. But I really like the premise of it, and the friendly, doting touches that Rarity has with her friends. That last one might have been more friendly than I think though
