Dream Volt

Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to Rarity vs. The Hat: RotE Episode 4

Fluttershy has a nice day. Of course she also now has a pair of antlers that function very similar to a unicorn horn. And that worries her. But for the most part she has a nice day with her friends. Then Celestia shows up for a talk.

This is as much a point about Rainbow Dash's increased power as it is Fluttershy's - Rainbow is now powerful enough to tow Fluttershy (who I believe when she said she was a completely passive participant) through a Sonic Rainboom.

The Fluttershy POV was nicely written. I think that you caught her essentially introverted and somewhat hesitant and suggestible personality very well.

Six material elements? I'm assuming that it is Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Life (nature) and, possibly, Energy (magic). I'm assuming that each of the Mane Six is going to become über-powerful in one of them.

Interesting. Yes, it isn't quantity, it's quality: The right kind of the element at the right time. They aren't one-dimensional characters at all.

Oh, and:

:pinkiehappy: = water
:ajbemused: = earth
:rainbowdetermined2: = air
:raritystarry: = fire
:yay: = nature
:twilightblush: = magic

No, Rarity, it isn't about the antlers; they're just a symptom. It's why she's afraid of using her Deer Magic too. Fluttershy tried to explain it to Rainbow too, but she's too "plunge in and don't worry about it" to understand. It's about becoming a goddess, which is very apparently what is happening to her; she's becoming the avatar of Nature and Kindness. That's enough to frighten anyone, let alone someone as modest and introverted as Fluttershy.

Personally, I'd give her a hug and tell her that I would always be with her, no matter how powerful she becomes, to help her and support her. Of course, I'm a sap and I'd like to hug Fluttershy anyway. :fluttershyouch:

Fluttershy hit the nail on the head here, although I bet she doesn't realise it:

I nodded. Things were fine. Other than the fire thing with her mane, which she didn't use much, and being a little taller, nothing was different. Every pony else was the same. Even Pinkie in a strange way, even though she was often anything but. I smiled.

All the emergence of their powers have done is add a little extra power to the way they were already. That confirms Luna's hypothesis that all freeing her from Nightmare Moon did was unblock powers and aspects to their nature that were there anyway.

Pinkie is the one without introspection - she takes life as it is without thinking over it too much (possibly a outworking of her pseudo-Puritan upbringing). That's why she's furthest ahead with utilising her powers: She isn't worrying, she's exploring and accepting.

Yeah, let's keep Twi away from the Cloudsdale Library. Give her half a chance and she would be in there For hours looking for Private Pansy's personal journal or something. :twilightblush:

Ooh! Luna has a Mission for the team! Possibly the first in many? I have a mental image of the Six sitting around in an office with Luna talking through a speakerphone. Luna's Elements, anyone (Charlie's Angels theme begins to play...)?

LUNA: Good morning Elements!

SIX: Good morning Luna!

So... teaching AJ and Twilight tai-chi? Well, it should be interesting to see what comes of isokinetics in terms of focussing metaequine powers (notice 'metaequine' rather than 'metahuman' ). Really it's all about knowing where your various bits are at any one time and I wonder if there is a psychological aspect to it too - attaining a level of calm that enables you to control yourself. Both Applejack and Twilight Sparkle are hyperactive personalities, so I imagine that this is a hard skill to learn.

Oh...

Yes...

Gaia has returned. All Discord could do is break her into parts. Those six parts have now been reborn as six remarkable ponies and, I suspect, the real reason for his fear when the Elements struck at him was that he had suddenly realised who he was facing... that She had beaten him after all.

I think that Celestia is slowly coming to terms with the fact that, because her mother's power has been reborn in new forms, it is more likely that the personality could never be reborn. Will it make her bitter and resentful? I don't think Celestia is capable of those emotions but I do think that it will make her relationship with the Six a bit awkward for a while.

And who else to comfort a goddess but Kindness herself... and one of the reincarnations of her mother?

"Not yet." What else could I say when Life Herself has spoken?

The fact is, though, that they are growing stronger and Celestia believes that, one day, they will be her equal. That's a heck of a burden to carry but, I think, they need time to develop wisdom and control. Rarity's breakdown shows that none of them are ready for their full powers yet. Even so, the day draws closer with every discovery they make and every new use for their powers. With time... One day.

I believe that Celestia has decided that the time has come to accept the truth as it is presented. I think she intends to prepare her six little sisters-in-spirit for what time, circumstance, eternity and divinity will bring to them.

No big revelations in Episode Seven, I'll bet; right now she needs to satisfy herself that her theory is right. After that, it will be indirect guidance - setting them challenges that will develop the right qualities in them. It will be a long process but... then again... they have forever, don't they?

As for Episode Six, the time has come for the first and last of the Mane Six to find out what it means to be Friendship and to be Magic.

1427147 Rarity as fire, huh? That would be interesting... plarticularly given some of the stuff I've found out this week about Lauren Faust's original concept for her... :raritystarry:

:rainbowlaugh: I can relate... *chuckle*

I had thought that this

"My mother." She looked up at the tree. "Somehow he found a way to do the impossible.

was a mistake, but then you explained... in the comment. :pinkiegasp: I love this place...!

I'll just say outright that the elements aren't Gaia. Identity is really important to me and that sort of thing always creeps me out. it can be really interesting, but I'm sure not going to do it. Episode 7 will deal with this a little, but I'm not sure when I'll get back to this plot point otherwise.

As to Discord, I thought I'd been pretty anvilicious about it, but the main six don't really know about him yet. I guess one point of confusion is one of the reasons I'm marking these all as alternate universe is because I moved Luna Eclipsed to only a few months after she got back, since otherwise seems weird to me. Also there really isn't anything that happens that only makes sense for the second season. I thought this was clear enough, but I guess not.

And no, Discord not showing up yet is not remotely important. :trollestia:

Bet you five bucks that what gaia said to flutters last chapter was not yet (unless it actually stated what, she said and im just dense and missed it)
