Everypony has something they fear, some more than others. Rainbow Dash claims to be fearless, but all it takes is a strange creature to show her that everypony has their own phobia.

Well written, and an interesting concept, but I just can't see Dash acting like this. She's the only one of the mane 6 that has been shown to have a non-pony friend, and while she does have fears and insecurities she tends to cover them with confrontation and bluster. She wouldn't be running in fear, she'd be attacking something she feared head on, even if only to try to prove to herself (and anyone watching) that she's not actually scared.
Spooky indeed. I'm curious if you're going to go month by month. If so, I wonder how Rainbow keeps staying away from him so easily, if he hangs out with mostly her friends. She's with them practically all the time, and doesn't work all day.
There should be more of an interaction then, in my opinion. Definitely excellent so far though, do continue.
Overall, it's a fairly interesting concept. Not many HiE are told from the perspective of a non-human, so this is an interesting break from the stereotypical "My life sucks and I get teleported to Equestria" thing that's spreading like wildfire recently. However, I do agree with>>1419410. Dash is the type of pony who would rather face her problems head-on, rather than run away from them. I do like the first chapter and the format of the story (journal entries aren't done too often either), so I'll tag along and see where this journey goes. I do hope that we get a better in-depth analysis of the human as the story progresses as he's a pretty flat character at the moment.
hmm, interesting. Rd being afraid of humans? Odd, but it could have a good explanation.(heck, it could just be that it is something completely alien, foreign, etc. and she does not know how to react to it. Yeah, I don't entirely know how phobias work, so I'm grasping at straws here.)

Zis looks good. :D Good characterization for Dash. I don't think her fear really needs much of an explanation — irrational fears like this are subconscious and aren't caused by any particular event. Maybe she's just freaked out by the sheer weirdness of the human, and the natural psychological reaction to something unknown is to fear it. It's a creature the likes of which she's never seen. If it was normal-ish, like some monster that she already knows is fightable, then it would make sense for her to bow up to it, but if I saw something that resembled absolutely nothing I knew, like some vicious-looking blob-shaped alien, then I would be freaking out a bit. I figured the same would apply to Dash. She doesn't know if the same rules that apply to ponies apply to this thing. If you don't know what it can do, you can't prepare for it, so therefore you are potentially in great danger, and can't do anything about it. This freaks some people out. :3 Dash is simply suffering from this.
I know some people are rigid about canon characterization, but I enjoy it when people employ something in fanfiction to fill in a grey area. This is why I love, love, love Alternate Universe fics.

Xenophilia can refer to either an attraction or love of foreign or alien people, manners or culture; or it can refer to being sexually attracted to a a sapient of a different species.
Xenophobia, on the other hand, only refers to a general aversion or fear of foreign or alien people, manners or culture. It cannot be applied to a singular species or individual.
Change the name to just "Phobia". You seem like an attention whore trying to get recognition of of an obscenely popular HiE ship/clop fic with the same main character and similar name. Not that I care about that fic. It takes itself too seriously for my tastes and it's subject matter IMO.

I certainly don't begrudge Symphony the title. He says he's never read Xenophilia and that is entirely possible, many people stay away from mature tags.
I do however completely agree with you on the term Xenophobia, it's one of the reasons I feel Dash is bad for the role (since she's shown that she's perfectly fine with Griffons at the very least). In all honesty, AJ would be a much better fit for it. She's shown to be adverse to other cultures in the show, and southern stereotypes really don't help her any in that department.
I meant as RD will always find a way to fight back, as such I still have much more planned. I know that she was OOC in this, as this is a new take for her usual characterization. I will get the old Rainbow back though, but first I need to build some stuff up before doing so. People often say that a frightened animal will do what it takes to escape, even some people do that.
Rest assured that I will take some turns with this story which I hope will please both me and the readers. If not, I'll have to rework it until I get it right.
now this is something you don't see very often: an actually credible reaction to a human coming to Equestria. I'd say that if it were to actually happen, probably quite a few ponies would be reacting exactly the way that Dash is here. much props to you, writer. I'm definitely following this one.
After publishing Xenophilia, I could hardly avoid such a similar sounding story, and while I'm not particularly engrossed myself, this story is quite well written, so I'll keep an eye on it and lurk the comments section 
:P creeper xDD >>1423616 (shrugs) ya somthing unnavoidable xP to be sure its good to see your not ticked on someone writing a story with similar elements or situations as your friend anonauthor's xenophilia story :3 for myself the story is pretty good with what its got despite obvious drawbacks ^^ im curious to know if it will stay a day to day "journal" story ive already found one possible solution for RDs phobia since theres no way in tartarus she'll talk to him face to face to get to know him why not stick him in a room while RD talks to him from another room with her friends beside her :P from what i can tell she just cant get used to how he LOOKS so why not just take baby steps and start with his voice? then start from there :D then again she can be SO stubborn xP looking to how this goes
heh keep thinking what happen if it were me (as the human) and it end terribly. For some reason i pick up on fear very easily i'd see rainbows terrified and would prolly pay her as visit, but knowing how self conscious she is about her image i'd prolly sneak up on her while she relaxing alone. I wouldn't wanna bring her fear to light for the general populace and more then likely give her a heart attack......
honestly, I don't see too much of dash out of character so much as an example of how irrational phobia's end up working. yeah dash is umcomfortable around the human, but she's rational enough to understand that its not really his fault, and that it has no base. As a result she can't confront the "problem" easily, since its not as easy as "he's bad and he should go away". currently talking to twilight about it and attempting to write it in her journal seem like ways she could be "confronting" it.

Just because it's (apparently) a popular fic, does mean everyone had read it.
