When the clan leaders returned from Equestria to relocate there followers, not everypony was so willing to listen to the message of friendship. Generations of bitter hate between them made many uneasy of the idea that they would share a land with ponies that had so long been rivals with, and some of them refused to accept it. When one stallion decides to stay behind, even as everypony in his village leaves, his familly must survive the cold inside the one room house they live in, even as the wind is fueled by the stallion's hate.

    Dude.... that's deep. :fluttercry:

    I'm left utterly speechless.

Even shed a tear here and there...

Also listening to this song kind of helped it to.

So in the end did they... live? (I can be incredibly oblivious at times) thx for clearing that up IAH.

That's the sad thing about hate. It's one of the easiest things to pick up, and one of the hardest to let go, even when it means the difference between life and death. And when you hate, you drag everyone else around you down with you.

This is a sad, beautiful story.

It's pretty clear they died. Since they were the last ponies in the town, the Windigoes finally had nothing left to feast on, and thus the blizzard went away.

I would like to begin answering your question with one of my own. Have you ever read the book the Giver?

If you havn't look it up, it's a good way to blow an hour.

The reasone I asked that question is because that ending, like in my story, is left very open to the reader. The auther specificully came out and said she would never tell her audiance what happened, and wants us to decide the fate of the characters.

I have my own idea of what happened, and i don't want to spoil the story by telling it, but I will point out a few things for your benifit.

On the one hoof, many of the lines in here could be looked at in multiple ways. It's just as likely there last breath of steam was because it was warming up as it is that it was there last breath ever. It's also possible the Windigoes knew the father was a much stronger source of hate then the foals. Not to mention there act of hudling together showed extream compation for one another, and the son DOES have the fire of friendship cutie mark.

However on the other hoof, the last thing the son said to his father was wishing him a slow, frozen, death, and the last conversation we hear is the two of them hoping he dies, so maybe this hate is strong enough to do them in.

I know what I think happens, you have to decide the ending for yourselves. Thank you for the encouraging words though, it's nice to know I'm putting out good work.

Hmm decide your own ending... well I'll stick to my happy ideal ending...

Love that movie, Just to prove what a huge nerd I am, I own all three of them with the extended directers cuts that make them a near 12 hour watch.

    >>1303261

What? I made a reader generate an emotion! Not just one of the lesser ones either, but a sadness (or joy) so deep it stimulated tears! That comment made my day.

Oh i'm sorry, i just like talking to my readers, I assure you i'm being seriouse, if overexagerating a little. I take every complement to heart and try to correct every critisism, but i wont get either of thoughs things if I don't interact with the people who read my work. All i'm trying to do is let you know i'm paying atention to your remarks and that no matter what you post I'm going to read it. That way you'll want to comment more and i'll get more feedback as to what I need to do. It's just a way I get people to talk to me without stuffing the ever anoying *Don't forget to comment* message everywhere.

    Sorry if i confused you.:derpytongue2:

The poor little kids... fuck that father. He is a giant, inconsiderate ASS. He lets his family die because of his own racism. What a fucking moron.

For this story, I grant thee a yay, and a 'stache. :yay::moustache:

Sometimes the beauty in things is best ilistrated by there simplicity. I could, if I wanted to, expand this into an epic, fleshing out the true nature of the father or elaberating more on how the pegasus foal was raised by the son, but nothing I could add would give the story anything it dosn't already have. Like a wise man once said, a true inventor knows he has acheived perfection in his creation, not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. I'm very gratefull for your praise and am humbled by the idea that I moved you to tears, its times like this where i'm proud to be an auther.

If you liked this story, I highly sudgest you look into my first work, Portal to Another World. It's over 50k words so hopefully its of sufeciant length to satisfy you.

It was a great story anyway. I normally shy away from sad stories, and moreover OC ones, but you suggested it. So adorable!
