You need to put spaces between blocks of text so it doesn't look like a wall. Otherwise, this is great. Well written, some humour and good characterisation. Looking forward to seeing if this will be a story that alternates between characters each chapter or mostly focused on Princess Shy.

Luna actually makes a fairly good argument on her need for a vacation. (Books are good and all for research purposes and for learning, but nothing beats a total immersion experience...I think.) As well as for her choice of a replacement, in my opinion. Why? Well, let's see:
1. Fluttershy is the quiet one, making her the least likely to abuse this position of power.
2. She made a dragon cry.
3. She killed a bear with CQC.
4. She singlehandedly destroyed the Grand Galloping Gala.
5. She can turn any creature of the land into an ally (the above example being the exclusion).
5a. She can communicate with any animal, and vice versa.
5b. Thus giving her a spy network as well as a quick-response army at her beck and call. That is, if you don't mind...
6. She has Jedi mind powers, proven by the existence of "The Stare."
7. Going along with # 1, she probably has the most frightening berserk button in that plane of reality.
7a. Takes one to know one.
8. She can cause you to feel bad for crossing her due to the near lethal amount of innocence she projects.
9. She was told by Samurai Jack that he would consider himself fortunate to one day be as gentle and wise as her.

Oh, great beginning, by the way. Not sure on the claim that the Mane 6 ran all the way from Ponyville. Wouldn't taking the train have been faster?
