Even though this is not the most original idea... I actually still really liked this story a lot. You captured the emotions well, and the flow and grammar were fine, and I think this definitely deserves more attention. You're a very good writer, so keep writing stuff like this, and you'll be pretty popular before you know it. And when you write a popular fic that's get featured, you'll get all the notifications you can ever want (I read in your blog post you apparently like those quite a bit. ). I know that from experience, I've had a couple there.

Anyways, yeah. Great work.
