Noclipper

E

She lived in a city of clouds, yet could not fly. She was surrounded by caretakers and foster families, yet felt alone. She saw other foals get new toys and sweets aplenty, yet got scolded if she complained about the meals she got. The orange and violet foal gladly left it all behind. With even her name cast away, she struggles to build a new life on her own terms.

Trust me, I'm just as tired of the sad Scootaloo stories, mainly because they're either pointlessly sad, like Final Dreams, or the exact opposite, being pointlessly happy, pure emotional fic with little actual substance. This isn't a story about an angst filled Scootaloo who dies or is instantly adopted, this is Scootaloo setting out on an adventure. "Nameless" is the saddest chapter in this story, it's all uphill from here. Mostly. :scootangel:

I'm looking forward to not-yet-Scoot's first sight of Rainbow Dash, myself.

131861 well honestly... in the world of mlp, she prolly would get adopted, but so far i like your story, i mean, im kinda worried that the last time you updated it was jan. 21st, but i like it. Not too sad, not too happy, only one suggestion really... try to shorten certain things... i found myself scrolling down the paragraphs that didnt progress the story at all.. I mean, a few are good, but there were too many.. Other than that, great read, and very original concept!

307757 I'm still alive, just unfortunately swept up in another project at the moment, I don't have much free time, I'm on a European Volunteer Service post until the end of May. I can't wait to get back to writing more than the silly fluff pieces I need to churn out for the project blog no one sees.

It's a difficulty to find the write balance of flavor (description) and substance (actual plot). Too much of the former, and everything slows to a halt and readers try to beat themselves to death with the doorstopper of a novel. Too much of the latter, and the world written feels so empty and plain, like an unpainted stage scene, and there's a lot of padding actions if the thing is of any length.

Thanks for the feedback.

580288 Detail IS one of the most required parts of a story, but good authors know which amount to put. For example, you dont need to put every detail into every conversation.. like you should make it more direct, and answer the readers' possible questions with conversation more.. For example, if twilight doesnt know how many ponies are in ponyville, just make it so she asks the mayor instead of counting all of the ponies (example, dont forget...)

Obviously I came late to this tale, but I'm glad I did, and I appreciated all the background detail; this is, after all, a tribe of ponies I knew nothing about, and I am curious about their history.

I do admit to a bit of over-identification with young Lavender, inasmuch as I was something of a misfit in my own younger years.

Meanwhile, patience, I am assured, is a virtue; it won't hurt me to expend a little waiting for the next chapter.

Fimfic's DDOS attack or whatever is finally gone, so I can publish the rest of chapter Lavender. I'll likely merge the two parts when I finish the next arc.

Thanks for commenting, I'm glad you're enjoying it. I myself also fell in love with the mythology and lifestyle of the Wander tribe, I'd love to write a dozen stories set in their dreamtime or their present.

Believe it or not, I only realized I made a reference to an old pair of super heroes after I typed "The Wander twins", and promptly :facehoof:ed

I've been watching silently for a while and I just wanted to say: this story is great.

The weirdest thing to me, though, is that apparently Scootaloo is pony-Turkish.

Dam noclipper, I was worried for a little that the story was dead but here we are with another great chapter. I wonder what little scoots next name will be? Where will her wondering take her? What friends will she make and will she ever want to return home or could this end with her in ponyville. Sweet celestial these fics get better and better

Is this story dead?
Is it supposed to be on Hiatus or something?
Been waiting for it to update for more than a year now.
was really looking forward to reading more.

Film no longer? And that is sadly.
