A rogue tornado wreaks havoc over Ponyville during a scheduled downpour storm. While no severe casualties occurred, the exception is with Fluttershy, who is badly injured. Rainbow Dash is distraught, having nearly lost her best friend and the only pony she ever loved. Now along with their friends, they must cope as best as they can after such a disaster.

You see, FlutterDash wanted to be rich and famous, just like the other shippings out there, so it conjured up a plan to have you write stories about it! And that's where Mistyfur came in...... You see, he wanted in on FlutterDash's fame, so he became one of your fans to get closer to it. Once he was close enough, he wanted to run you out of buisness and stop making FlutterDash fics! But FlutterDash was to kind and loyal to do that to you, and that's where Mysterious Brony comes in..... You see, he doesn't want anyone to know his identity because he was a well known detective. He teamed up with Sparity to stop Mistyfur before it was to late. He needed my help so I gave it to him, we conversed with FlutterDash and told her Mistyfurs evil plan. Mistyfur's still a fan of yours, done with his evil ways.
Mysterious Brony also became a fan of yours and gave up his job as a detective, but kept his name secret.
FlutterDash remained to be one of your closest partners, pulling you through time and time again.

For those of you who don't actually live in Tornado Alley and are wondering whether this level of panic is justified, the answer is Yes, carved into those big stone letters they used to advertise movies like El Cid. One of the worst ones in history passed within a few hundred yards of my front door. And I, fool that I am, went outside to watch, on the basis that if something's going to kill me, it's going to have to face me down first. This was, shall we say, not my wisest decision ever.
In the meantime, this is a heck of a good story: it moves faster than a storm chaser on a TV-station retainer.

So far, I like how you portray the cast in this situation. Rarity's situation with Opal is any pet owner's nightmare. Twilight reluctantly accepting that for the moment there's nothing she can do, but her magic is going to be a real godsend for the subsequent recovery and cleanup.
Good thing Rarity's got the kids in the basement already. "CUTIEMARK CRUSADER STORM CHASERS, YAY!" would probably be good enough cause to summon the fainting couch.
I do wonder why Rainbow would need to seek shelter. Certainly, she'd need to steer clear of the debris field, but as long as the storm winds don't overwhelm her she'd be doing Ponyville a greater service as a storm spotter.

I would've thought that as soon as Fluttershy heard the sirens she would've run for cover but I guess since she's shy she doesn't get out much she doesn't know what to do when the sirens go off, and that's RUN FOR SHELTER preferably underground in a basment or storm cellar and if that's not possible get to the ground floor and take shelter in a windowless bathroom or cloest, in that case you want as may walls between you and the outside as possible!

EF stands for the current scale the Enhanced Fujita scale which goes from 1 to 5 with wind speeds and damage adjusted accordingly, it's been in use since 2007 in the U.S., in any case this one would either be an EF4 or possibly a very high end EF3.

1194939 Well you should know that an EF4 and there's no space between the F and the number would be more accurate in terms of assessing damage so we know just how badly Fluttershy's injures become and how much damage her cottage will sustain from what looks like a direct hit!
The difference between the old Fujita scale and the Enhanced Fujita scale is more or less the wind speed. From what I remember, the damage qualifiers remained the same, but adjusted the expected wind speeds because engineering studies found that it actually took less force to produce the damage types observed. For example, F-4/EF-4 damage is given to a sturdy structure (such as a frame constructed home) that is completely destroyed (leveled) but the remains of the structure are still mostly left on the property (a debris pile.) If the entire structure was swept away it would be rated a 5. If some inner walls were still standing, it would be rated a 3. With the old scale, an F-4 was theorized to be a tornado with wind speeds of 207–260; with modern engineering studies it was found that winds within the range of 166–200 were all that was needed to produce the same effects.
But that's just nit picking. F-4 and EF-4 describe the same damage type, and it's pretty horrific. These are the ones where the weathermen start telling you that you have to be below ground to survive.
