Every year, Applejack takes a few days off and does all the books for the farm. In her quest to honestly account for all her farm's profits she thinks about family, friends, and general musings on Equestrian tax law. This is a story about Applejack adding up numbers, filling out tax forms and learning, once again, about the magic of friendship.

Hmm.
Overall, I liked it. Clean grammar, the characters feel pretty close to show quality, no grimace inducing spelling errors.
Something about the story feels incomplete, though. While the detail and worldbuilding are fairly awesome, the ending of "and then they did everything and nothing" (i.e. Taxes) somehow left me feeling flat. The whole story felt like it was building up to something cool and dramatic, and then other than the accounting system - there was nothing there.
I almost would have liked it more if Applejack *had* taken a little honest pride in the fact that her family's accounting system had become the de facto business standard.
(I also think that Applejack wouldn't have called EITHER of her friends "ma'am", nor would Rarity have called Applejack "partner". But that's just dialogue nitpicking, I suppose...)
I'm still giving it a thumbs up, though.
I'm impressed, I love AJ and this seems like something that should really be read....I'll read on.

Thank you! I wrote this story on a plane ride, which I guess shows because it's bumpy and, as you said, there's a lot of unresolved-ness in it since I wrapped it up before the plane landed.
