I thought it was a pretty good story, though the fact that the resolution came in, what, 150 words at most?  Yeah, that lost me.  Too simple, too easy, too destructive to the story.

It's a facepalm moment when you look back and go "Oh, she just didn't want it hard enough.  Of course, it's all her own fault."  It's like when Disney brings a character back to life through the magic of tears in a movie and inadvertently tells children that their parents die because they didn't love them hard enough.

I liked the story it was "nice" you did well I'm glad to see one where scoots has somewhat of a normal life instead of tragedy and stuff like that.

Eh. Ending is a bit cliché, and what's more, there is no real solution. It is rather heavily hinted at that the main reason she can't fly is the fact that her wings are underdeveloped. And that never is addressed. Apparently her will power is enough to overcome that, which is a bit of a stretch.

Other then that, its written well enough, no complaints there.

That was wonderful. VERY well written, and I can totally see this being an episode. Everypony was in character, and I loved the Scoot and Dash relationship.

on another note: I don't know how to feel about this.... Scoots was not hurt emotionally or physically...... And she was the focus of this story. Part of me is saying this story is an abomination and shouldn't exist. The other part is saying "FINALLY! I feel better now". So, I'll just post another pic and try to supress my emotions and drown them later in alcohal and violence... Yea, that seems like a good idea... (movie reference)

It seemed a bit too... I dunno, easy... at the end. Almost as if part of the ending got skipped. But on the other hoof, the rest was very well done.

And a happy ending in a Scootaloo fic? IMPOSSIBRU! I think of all the characters, she has it the worst when it comes to happy endings...

I'm a reviewer on Ponychan's /fic/. I see that line in almost every story I look at. I only see a Scoots can't fly story once in a blue moon.

I've seen canon that's made me facepalm harder (MMDW, the season finally where Celestia gets beat and Luna is off doing who knows what, ect...). I admit the resolution was a bit quick, and I probably could have gone on more in that respect, but at nearly 5k words, I wanted to wrap it up.

I did like the general idea and the beginning of the story, but to be frank, I disliked the part from when Scootaloo started to fly onwards.

I would have liked to know what it felt like for Scootaloo to really for te first time. Since I couldn't feel for Scootaloo when she flew, I subsequently couldn't relate to the betrayal and sadness she felt when she received the note or her feelings when she makes up with Rainbow Dash.

This is especially strange to me, since the fic strats out from Scootaloo's point of view but never comes back to it, I would almost go as far as saying avoids it in the later part of the story.

Hopefully my opinion is helpful instead of simply unjust.

It's good! I liked it a lot.

I loved it... right up until the end. It just kind of... came to a conclusion. No reasoning behind it other than "Oi! You! Fly!" and then she flew.

Sometimes she felt she may have been born the wrong race. She'd often think that maybe she was simply an earth pony with wing-like appendages. A "faux-pegasus", perhaps.

No downthumb from me.  I want to see Scoot flying even more than I want to see Diamond Tiara banished to the far side of Bridlegeuse.  (And if there isn't a star by that name, there ought to be.)

It was all good up t the end. It just felt really rushed.

Well, that merits a read right there. I shall let you know my thoughts once I have completed this tale of (no) misery and (lack of) woe.

Post-Reading Thoughts: A nice story, but I found the "can't fly because she wasn't believing in herself hard enough" bit to be a little farfetched. Although I suppose it's true that mental blocks could prevent something like that, but it just seems a bit too convenient.

Still, it was a well written story, with good pacing, and I enjoyed it. Thumbs up from me.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Loved the story.  One question, though.  Are there no spells that would enlarge Scootaloo's wings to normal size?  I find it odd that there's a lot of foreshadowing about her wings being underdeveloped, then Twilight suddenly can't find any medical reason why she's unable to fly.

What an interesting idea you has thar.  I wonder what sort of shenanigans will ensue... tracking.

Cute story. I've had a soft spot for Scoots after Lauren Faust told that she was never meant to fly. All props to Mrs. Faust but I still think that would be too heartwrenchingly sad. I wanna see happy ponies.

I just read it it was great however one thing i don't understand why did most of them think it was the size of the wings as most people know the power to fly is from a pegasus passive magic ability i mean i would think rainbow and twilight would know that. however this story still gets a +1 from me.

And I think Scoots is about 13 and IS a late bloomer. And maybe a mental block has something to do with it too.

I'm planing to write a fic of my own where AJ teaches Applebloom how to run the farm; Rarity teaches Sweetie Belle to use magic; and Rainbow and Fluttershy teach Scoots to fly. And I will have all of my, non-Scootabuse, head-canon reasons for why she can't fly adresed as well as maybe a slight mental block on Sweetie's magic.

Anyway, nice to know someone else has the same idea as me.

Ehhh.... the story was fine but the ending was too abrupt and cliché, as a couple of other posters pointed out. While I do admit that many canon episodes do that, they take the time to throw in some jokes and action along the way, so they have a "journey, not destination" kind of enjoyability to them. This story was entirely focussed on the concept of Scootaloo flying, but unfortunately the actual moment when that happens is disappointing, so the whole fic falls flat.

I liked the writing style, and I caught just one mistake:

"letting her scooter fall on it's side" should be "its"

I'm conflicted. I want Diamond Tiara to die in a fire for how bad she made Scootaloo feel, but on the other hand, if it wasn't for her being such a terrible being spawned from the depths of hell then Scootaloo wouldn't have realized she could fly.

This is one of the cutest stories I've ever read! Thanks so much for not writing some creepy fic about Scoots and Rainbow, every now and then it's nice to see a nice, happy fan fic.

OMG Scoots flying!

Well I am glad to find a fanfic staring Scootaloo where nothing bad happens to her and of course it's nice to see yet another fanfic prove Lauren Faust wrong (no offense) and show that Rainbow Dash could make a GREAT sister like figure for Scootaloo but I agree with some above comments that the ending was a bit cliche but it's not bad.

Also Diamond Tiara considers Spike to be her prince SAY WHAT?

Pretty great! The only thing is that during and after the "Scootaloo finds out the truth" scene, it all seems really rushed and empty. The "Scootaloo finds out the truth" scene was pretty much all plain dialogue, and for such an emotional moment, I think it would have benefited from some descriptive emotional writing. As it stands, I think it's somewhat plain. Other than that, a great fic whose premise could actually occur in episodes to come!

Apparently, two people have given this one the thumb-down... Well, the "no dislikes" thing was great while it lasted...

Loved the story, btw. Though Scootaloo stuff without bad s*** happening isn't all THAT uncommon.
