This story and some somber blues to set the mood...that was heart wrenching.

This one loses out to "From the Mouths of Fillies". Spelling all the gut-wrenching details makes it another "somepony dies"-story, a really good one, but just another.

That was incrediable. Your discription on how ponies of diffrent ages act during a tragic event such as this is very believable. I hope to see more soon.

That was a bit too powerful for me.  There was a lot of raw emotion and pain at a level that is physically disturbing.  Great writing moves a person, I suppose, but I can't help but shiver.

OH GOD, THE FEELS! The fucking feels, man! Having just recently lost my grandfather to cancer only a month after being diagnosed, and watching the life fade away from him, this really hits me hard. I don't know what hurts more about this story, the death of one of the best background characters, or how suddenly we were thrust into this emotionally intense scenario. I'm anxious to see how Dashie handles this.

Dead Island goes well with this...well it kinda goes well with anything sad and makes them 15 times more sad.

Puts the whole Mare do well scene in a weird light.

Comment, huh... Well. I read. A lot. A LOT. I tend to avoid sad fics. But this caught my interest, and I feel hopeful we will see some character building for and between these three in the rest of the story. Some daww-worthy moments even. Although I expect there wil be some tough times first.

Not quite as good as From the Mouths of Fillies, but still a very solid story. However, unlike it's counterpart, this story has room to grow as it appears to be incomplete if the tag can be believed.

I can't believe you killed Ditzy! Also, I'm not sure why I'm reading this or liked it. You have managed to bring back a lot of memories of watching many friends lose a parent (military brat).

That, and I used to work on the service desk for a very well known children's hospital on the west coast, and occasionally have heard the... process... when a child slips away while trying to get a system running correctly remotely.

Long story short, you've managed to accurately capture a realistic chunk of the emotions for this type of situation (as far as I've observed). For that, even if it is a bit painful to me, you have managed to earn a fav and a thumbs up. I'll be awaiting future chapters.

I'm a My Little Dashie and The Things We Leave Behind veteran after all. (The latter made me cry even more than My Little Dashie. It's a must read if you want to get hit right in the feels.)

That is possibly one of the most soul crushing stories I have read on FIM fiction and yet I still want more ....If youll excuse me I have to go not drink alone in a dark room now

I generally only read the stories that have been around for a while and are well-established as beloved stories, but... this one just looks so good, it would be a crime for me to not give it a shot. Added to my watch list, will read tomorrow.

That hit me where it hurts: the heart. Seeing a child deny their parent's death thinking they're sleeping is MUCH MUCH worse than the child knowing their parents died and cry in sorrow. Makes it more sad when the child realizes the truth.

Reading this story makes me feel this story is connected to "My Sweetie" with Sparkler in this story.....and I like that.

I look forward to seeing where this story goes. This chapter was certainly sad, and I thought the reactions of the different characters to be good and realistic. I hope to see this story transcend the majority of “and then somepony died and it was sad” fics, and show how this family try and work through this terrible situation. I figure this story has only gotten started after all. I'm definently going to be watching this one.

Well, I was enjoying reading it...until Dinky said 'mommy's sleeping" then I couldnt read anymore through the tears.

I liked it. Kept it laid back enough to not be hammy-level sad and risk entering Narm territory, but got the message across.

I can see why it got featured. An enjoyable little read.
