Okay, so it's still too early to say if this is as good, better than, or worse than the afore mentioned one on EqD, but it is certainly promising to be rather good. One will thus wait to see what direction this fic goes before becoming more liberal than one already has been. Good luck!

Yes, I'd like to add little nods to the fandom here and there in the story, to see who catches them. Brace yourself. The cameos are coming.

On to the main point, I actully don't like to think of this as a sequel. I like to think of it as a different continuity entirely to Sir Ginger's work. Kind of like how the novel series and the TV series of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy didn't match up perfectly, because all nine (count 'em) nine iterations of The Hitchhiker's Guide are all different. The plot will not be the same as Sir Ginger's work, I guarantee you that now. While Pinkie Pie takes on the same role as she did in Sir Ginger's work, the plot will differ (as you can tell already, as Pinkie's origins diverge from her origins in Sir Ginger's work). In fact, that's the main plot element I borrowed from him. Everything else I am trying to keep as original as possible, while staying true to the book (though, that said, it will not be following the plot of the book, either).

Huh, really? I assumed that chapter would go down poorly, being as it was so dark. It ended up like that for two reasons:

1. I was miserable when I wrote it (much like Adams when he wrote Mostly Harmless)

2. I wanted to parody grimdark fiction and sad fiction.

I only ever found one other Hitchhiker's Guide pony-fic, and I wanted to do it my own way. I don't intend for the Doctor to take Zaphod's place, nor for Derpy to take Trillian's, but I think they'll play slightly similar roles.

Of course, the whole "Time Lords were Total and Utter Bastards" section reads like classic Adams.  The Guide could have very well referenced Doctor Who almost exactly like this.

Although I believe only two of the Doctor's incarnations actually made much use of jelly babies.  They're overdue for a comeback, in my opinion.

Yes, the Guide entries are written with a deliberate touch of humorous cynicism, as in classic Adams. I also like to write them and imagine Peter Jones is reading them as I write them, which helps.

The Doctor still keeps jelly babies in the TARDIS. They reference it in one of the Tenth Doctor's episodes, so I expect if you were especially amicable and asked nicely he'd give you some.

There was a reference to John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" in there (the conversation about alfalfa and 'livin' offa the fatta the lan'') and also a reference to this scene from the film "Contact", based on the book by Carl Sagan.

They're obscure, but I got a kick out of them.
