Every teacher deserves a day off once in a while, right? And Cheerilee is no exception. She works hard to provide her students with the finest education, but even she needs a break. When a day off finally arrives though, it seems Ponyville has nothing better to do than step in and interfere. What exactly is going on in Ponyville? Why are the Mane Six acting so odd? Why are the Cutie Mark Crusaders so excited about carrots? And what does any of it have to do with Cheerilee and her day off?

This could almost be an actual, you know, Episode.

Very true. It was quite good. :moustache:

This was great! I had that warm fuzzy feeling near the end too, haha. :pinkiehappy:

What a great light hearted story. I sure needed a break from all the Sad/Dark storys of late, Thank you.

I'll third that notion.
This was a well-written masterpiece in the fame of the show we all love. For that, you get an upvote/fave/follow and hopes that you get featured.

And then the party was ruined due to shitty dubstep.

What a shame.

Yay Cheerilee deserved a party. She is responsible for all of Ponyville's kids. Nice a lighthearted.

All teachers I know deserve a party now and then. Nice piece. Clever, if a little predictable.

The only thing wrong was the absence of a certain DJ. For the love of Celestia, why is Pinkie working the turntables when they already had all of Ponyville in on the conspiracy? Surely Vinyl Scratch would have been thrilled to spin for a Pinkie party no matter who it was for.

I loved it. Dedicate this to all the teachers. And keep on writing stuff like this. :pinkiehappy:

I've had this on my reading list since it came out, and I'm glad I finally read it. I also believe this could be a real episode.

This was fantastic.
To be entirely honest though... I had absolutely no idea what the citizens of Ponville were planning for Cheerilee...
In hindisght, a surprise party should have been obvious :rainbowlaugh:

Either way, I tip my hat to you, Quillery.

I would not have been pleasant to be around after finding out most of my day was ruined for a party. :pinkiecrazy:

1172245 i knew it was a party after the crusaders incident.

Agreed, it has the right feel. All it's lacking is Cherilee writing a note to Princess Celestia at the end.

Surprise parties almost never work out properly.
All day, the one person is getting ignored or shoved in a different direction and by the time they're actually allowed to go to the location of the party, he/she hates everyone's guts.
No, cake and presents are a nice gesture but it's too late. You've already hurt their feelings. :duck:
...
In spite of this, I have to say that was a good read. It really felt like an episode.

I finally got around to reading this... and I can't believe that I put this little gem off for so long. This is, without a doubt, episode-quality material right here; I actually imagined these scenes visually, and everything fit perfectly. If any complaint exists, it would be that your story resembles "Party of One" a bit much (I kinda caught on to the whole "secrecy and delay" tactic early on). Even so, this is a very well-executed and balanced story. A very well deserved fave/thumbs-up.

This is fantastic. I applaud you sir/ma'am.

Noticed one typo.

Twilight smiled and led Cheerilee to the table. The two say down while the librarian levitated the hot kettle magically and poured tea for the both of them.

"DOWN!" :flutterrage:

Nice one Quill. I'm sorry it took me so long to get around to reading this when I'm the one who commissioned it :facehoof:. As recompense I will declare you the official winner of the contest since yours is the only one that I've actually seen.

Cool stuff, very sweet.

Good story! Really nice to have one just for Cheerilee too!

1505841 now what would she write, anyhow, this story had the right feel for sure, I originally was reading this when it had like 20 likes, but never finished it

This was a great example of a well written, decently paced plot interlaced with a very simple yet intricate plot. This was simply a joy to read and a good reason to favorite. I will also admit that I love reading really long worded stories. I forgot that this was a fanfiction story as I could have just sworn I could have imagined it as an actual uh, canon episode. Your interpretation of the characters was excellent, nobody was out of character (thank you).

Overall thank you for the sublime read and I wish you luck any and all future stories you shall create!

-Frost

To be honest here, I would likely cry at least a little bit when I finally got back to the house if I were her. That would have been awkward for everypony involved.
On another note, I liked this story enough to comment, and I don't do that often.
Good job, I hope there are more where this came from.
