I immediately thought it was about Rainbow Dash not liking tea, and the implications of romance were just there to be a red herring.
Oh well, still a good fic.
This was actually kind of pointless and uninteresting. There just wasn't enough of a hook here to hold my attention...if this is going anywhere, anywhere at ALL, you picked a truly horrendous point at which to end the first chapter, because there's just nothing there to draw a reader back.

Unusual ships are sailing in this fic, but I really enjoy Dash's thought processes. It actually feels believeable that's she's subconciously ignoring those thoughts.
So, you're intentionally making Dash unintentionally make us believe that she is unintentionally, intentionally ignoring romance.

Not liking tea can be very dangerous in Equestria.
On a less loaded topic, interesting story. Short and sweet, can do well as a standalone as well as a bigger storyline.
Nice idea to have Dash as a relationship-free person (as the fandom tends to overanalyse her sexual interests so much ordinarily). I'm routinely baffled by the way people tend to treat someone's inclination to not constantly seek out romantic and/or sexual relationships as strange and unnatural. It's weird.

I'll just say Forty Bits - started out as a teen-rated romance, then did a sudden 180 into fully-blown clop in the second chapter, without changing the Teen rating at first. It's not a common occurrence, but it does happen. Yes, you can report it, but by then, the damage to you has been done.
Luckily we're a big and fairly varied audience here, so I would think that as the number of pageviews a fic has increases, the likelihood that someone else has taken that bullet for you and the tags have been rendered accurate also increases. That would mean that so long as you don't jump on a new chapter in the first few minutes (or hours, depending on the story's popularity) you can expect potentially objectionable content to be tagged as such. Is the Forty Bits scenario one you experienced personally? If so, do you know how long the chapter in question had been up before you read it and found the, er, surprise?
>>1031942 Actually, yes, I did. If you go through the commentary on that story, the second chapter in particular, you'll see what happened. Admittedly, it didn't take long for the author to remedy that situation, but there was a window of time - at least two hours from the comments that came up before my first one, and I know for a fact that the story was still rated Teen when I wrote that - where you could click on the story and have stuff shoved in your face you possibly didn't want and certainly didn't expect. And if, like me, you start reading newly updated fics as soon as that number beside the gold star changes, avoiding the comments so as to avoid spoilers, you're not going to get any kind of advance warning either.
This is the only time something like this has happened to me on this site or elsewhere, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. (The fact that the second chapter didn't hold a candle to the first is nigh-completely unrelated, by the by. That had less to do with the clop and more with the sudden dropoff in characterization and buildup.)
I loved it. Instead of RD acting obviously squeamish and guilty about hiding something, she just doesn't care. Her monologue shows this, and how she gets really sick of hanging out this way. The part about their friendship she can't stand, but means so much to her friends. Been there. So when you take into account those bottled emotions, you start to worry a bit about why she wouldn't want to find a special somepony. I myself am predicting asexuality. THAT would be something I think you could do well, and not a topic I see often in this random or anywhere.
