A Fateful Encounter
So here I am, sitting on a cloud during a warm summer night. The night truly is quite beautiful. There is a full moon out and it’s casting its gentle light across the land. The sky has also been decorated with countless shimmering stars, as though somepony threw a hoofful of gold dust in the air. Things look very different at night. Everything seems to glisten and glow in all shades of grey and silver. I think about all the ponies that are asleep at the moment. They are missing out on something really beautiful.
For some reason I feel more drawn to the night. I can't say that I like one over the other because I also do love all the colours that daylight brings and the warmth of the sun too, but I can't help but feel like the night is more where I belong. To me it should be the other way around. Ponies should sleep in the day and stay up all night. Falling asleep with the sun beating on my face and feeling it warm me up is one of my most favorite things to do. All of this may be true, but spending all my time in the night would be a very lonely thing to do considering that everypony else spends all their time in the day. So I have learned to sleep whenever I want. I'll stay up and hang around Ponyville, talking to ponies or doing anything else that I want, whenever I want. Then I'll sleep whenever I feel like it.
Everypony in Ponyville seems to have gotten used to me and my irregular schedule. They don't mind me being gone for a while because of how I have been spending all my time in the night for a few nights, and then suddenly showing up again hanging around Ponyville. Most of them consider me a friend and usually enjoy having a conversation here and there or just spending time having fun. Many have asked why my schedule is so irregular and why I sometimes disappear for a few days, but they don't anymore because I just keep coming up with different excuses. I'm sure they now know that I am not telling the truth and that I would just rather not say. Why do I not say you ask? Well I just don't want to get too close. I have been around for over 1000 years. I have no idea why. As soon as the ponies that I have made friends with notice that I am not aging, I leave. I have been all over Equestria as I move from place to place. As you can obviously guess, Ponyville is the place where I currently live.
I always choose a place that is nearby the place that I left, that way I can watch over my friends. And when it is getting to be time for them to go, I pay them one last visit to say goodbye one last time. I'm not a heartless pony, and me leaving my friends to never see them again would be a very heartless thing to do. But I don't want any new friends that I make to live the same lives as the friends I grew up with. The first forty years of my life were very normal, but me still looking like I am in my early twenties when I'm fifty years old was a little odd. At first my friends kept on asking me what I was doing to stay looking so young, and I just kept on saying that I didn't know. It was the truth too, I really don't know what, how, or why I am like this. It soon went from them asking questions to us searching for an answer. Then all of a sudden, one of my friends ends up in the hospital. I guess it was his time to go. We all went to say our last goodbyes to him, but I still felt bad. He had spent the last few years of his life searching for answers with the rest of us when he could have been doing so many other things. He didn't enjoy his last few years like he should have. Even after his passing, my other friends didn't show signs of giving up. That is when I got the idea to disappear.
Now what I mean when I say that I watch over my friends is that I keep an eye on them and do my best to keep them from getting caught up in an accident, such as something falling on them or anything that could bring serious harm to them. Although, for a while that Rainbow Dash and the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well were giving me a nice break from that. Then once it is getting to be that time where my friends have to go, I go and visit them one last time. There are quite a few different reactions that I get when I visit them. At first they are all surprised, then that changes depending on the kind of pony they are. Some get angry because they thought that I abandoned them and the rest of my friends. Some don't even care that I haven't aged. All they care about is that they are seeing me once more. And some are just full of questions, the big one being why I disappeared for so long. It doesn't really matter what their reaction is though. All that matters is that in the end, my friends are thankful that I came to visit them. Before I leave, there is a certain question that I am asked quite frequently. They usually ask me, "Will I ever see you again?" I'm guessing that those who ask me that question are those who believe in the afterlife and wonder if my time will ever come so that we can meet again. However my answer always is, "In your next life." Ponies don't realize just how real that theory is. Absolutely every time a friend of mine passes away, a foal is born a few years later and grows up to be just like my other friend. They even have the exact same cutie mark.
I have tried many times to go and ask Luna, and even Celestia before Luna had returned, to see if they know anything about me. Since Luna is the princess of the night and I seem to be drawn to the night. My cutie mark also happens to have a moon in it, but they don't just let anypony into the castle. That no longer bothers me now though. Those questions are no longer important. What is important is having good friends to surround yourself with, friends you can count on, friends that make you happy whenever you are with them no matter what. I know one pony who is very good for that. I met her not too long ago and she said to come visit her at Sugarcube Corner when I get the chance. Her name is Pinkie Pie, one of the famous six that have saved Equestria... twice. She seems to have made friends with everypony here in Ponyville. It's not surprising though. She has the most cheerful spirit I have ever seen. It is no wonder that she gets along with everypony she meets. Speaking of which, I think I might just take her invitation into consideration and visit her sometime today.
I arrive at Sugarcube Corner and trot inside, only to see two ponies who definitely were not Pinkie Pie. One had a bright blue coat with a pink mane and tail, and her mane and tail almost looked like icing on a cake. The other had a coat that is between orange and yellow with a mane and tail that is orange. He was tall and slender with a longer snout than most ponies, he was also wearing a hat. They both turn around at the sound of the chime from me entering the building.
"Oh, hello there. Welcome to Sugarcube Corner" said the blue pony, "How may we help you?"
"I was told I could find Pinkie Pie here. You wouldn't happen to know where she is, would you."
"Oh, that's right. She said a pony like you might show up here sometime looking for her. She said to tell you to meet her at Ponyville's library."
"Oh, alright then. Oh and... it's Midnight by the way, Midnight Wave."
That's when the orange one started speaking as he moved toward me.
"Well were pleased to have met you. I'm Mr. Carrot Cake and this is my wife, Mrs. Cupcake."
He then reached out his hoof, and we shook hoofs.
"It's a pleasure to have met you too" I said, "I guess perhaps I will see you later. I'll be sure to stop by here again."
"Goodbye, please do come again soon", Mrs. Cupcake said.
I left Sugarcube Corner and started making my way to the library. All this unnecessary travelling seemed a bit odd to me. Why would Pinkie Pie tell me to meet her at Sugarcube Corner only to be told by some other ponies to meet her at a different place. How far is this going to go. Is she just going to have ponies all over Ponyville keep on telling me to go to different places until I have been everywhere in Ponyville and then finally meet her? It's an odd game if you ask me, although it does seem like something Pinkie would do. I finally arrived at the library, but it didn't look like it was open. I tried looking in through the window on the door, but it was too dark inside. "Well, I guess I'll try knocking", I thought to myself. So I knocked on the door and to my surprise, I heard somepony shout, "Come in." Now, who would be inside with it being so dark? Then I thought, "Oh well, I might as well enter anyway", and so I did. Suddenly the lights turned on and ponies from all around jumped out from their hiding places shouting, "Surprise!" That's when Pinkie Pie suddenly jumped in front of me.
"Hi! Welcome to Ponyville! I wanted to throw you a surprise party because I always throw a surprise party for every pony that is new to Ponyville and you are new and I haven't thrown a surprise party for you yet and it would have been sooner but I didn't know where you lived so I decided to throw it here at the place of one of my bestest of friends which is nice because it is big enough to have everypony I know to come and have a party!!!"
I don't know how she had enough air to say that last sentence all in one breath. I was almost starting to get worried that she wouldn't stop. That sure made me laugh inside though. Oh Pinkie Pie, you're so silly.
"Um, thanks", I said as I stood in the entrance probably still looking a little shocked.
"Well what are you waiting for!! Come in and enjoy the party!!!"
And so, that is exactly what I did. The party was actually very fun. Pinkie Pie sure knows how to make sure there is something for everypony at her parties. I actually had a great time talking with other ponies and participating in many of the things she had planned out for this party. I say this only because I am not one for parties. I don't really dance, and there are only a select few ponies who I can carry a conversation with. Otherwise I just listen to conversations. But at this party, there were actually stuff like games and such for everypony to participate in. The party went on for hours up until the sun began to set, then it was time for everypony to head out. Well, everypony besides Pinkie Pie, her other five friends, and myself. The seven of us stayed because Twilight apparently had something she wanted to talk to me about, and the rest of her friends also took interest into whatever it is that she wants to talk me about. Once everypony had left and the door was shut, Twilight began to speak.
"I couldn't help but notice how interesting and odd your cutie mark is and I just want to know a few things."
"Okay, ask away then."
Normally I would try to avoid letting out any such information about myself to other ponies, but I think Twilight and her friends can help me with something. I had previously given up on finding out more about myself, but running into the famous six has made a huge difference. At least, I hope it has. I guess I am about to find out.
"I can only imagine the special talent that you have when your cutie mark has a wave and moon. Do you mind me asking what your special talent is?"
"No, I don't mind at all. But that's because I haven't got the slightest idea myself."
"What? How can you have a cutie mark, but not know what your special talent is?"
"Well, if you can remember from way back when you were in school. A cutie mark is earned when a pony discovers what makes them different from all the other ponies. That doesn't mean that you have to find your special talent."
"Okay, but how old are you. You look old enough that surely you should have found out what your special talent is by now."
"Now that is a question to which the answer you may not even believe if I told you, but I will say anyway. I am a little over a thousand years old now. I was born around the same time was when Princess Luna had turned into Nightmare Moon."
"WHAT?!" Everypony had shouted that time.
"So you have lived for over one thousand years and still know almost nothing about yourself." Twilight said.
"I know that I have a moon in my cutie mark, Like Luna. And I know that I prefer the night over the day, Like Luna."
"So, in other words, you think that Princess Luna might know something about you"
"Yes, that is exactly what i think"
"Then why haven't you gone to speak to her in all this time?"
"I have... many times, but they don't just let anypony into the castle."
"Well, we aren't just anypony. Girls, looks like we are going to Canterlot. Everypony, gather what you need and we will be off as soon as possible. If we hurry, we might be able to get to Canterlot before morning and before Luna leaves. We have a few things that need to be clarified."
So everypony went to their homes, packed up, and we all met at the train station. Where we then got on the next train leaving for Canterlot. It was going to be a fairly long ride so I thought I might catch some sleep. It seems as though everypony else had the same idea. We had all found a spot to rest and eventually fell asleep.

I don't know why people are disliking this.![]()
It seems pretty good to me. Not to many spelling errors, cool name, and decent enough character introduction. Maybe its the overly used I- Don't- Know- Anything- About- Myself thing? But come on people, this has been a greet story so far and if that's good enough for me it's good enough for everyone!
Heck the title is great! LIKE. FAVORITE. Keep it up author.![]()
The previous comment is absolutly correct. Your sentences are choppy, incoherrent and seriously need some work. It seems like you're getting your sentence structures from 4th grade student journals. This is clearly a story you want to write for personal reasons, so please don't stop, but if you are seriously trying to entertain the ponyfolk with it, I would suggest a different method of writing. Try reading your sentences back often, and keep a sharp eye out for punctuation.
Previous comment is forgetting to mention the cardinal rule of writing dialogue:
ONE character speaking, ONE paragraph (Bold for emphasis)
