great story, but when is the next chapter coming up, I want to know what happens next.

Hmmmm... I have to wonder if Gilda isn't Discorded. This whole "egghead" twist and vast quantity of knowledge seems awfully out of character for her, and it doesn't seem to fit that she might end up having such a seeming 180 of interests in only... what, a year since her falling out with Dash?

But on the other hand, it might make sense that she is Discorded, given what we know. It was said that Discord hit the city she was in when he broke loose, and it's also been said that the chaos wave isn't going into the Everfree forest and is instead stopping at its edges. By that logic, we might assume that if Gilda went into the Everfree forest when she was Discorded and has been staying there this whole time, then the Elements of Harmony's wave of friendship might have basically stopped at its edges as well, leaving Gilda in a Discorded state all this time.

It'd make more sense than "I'm just an egghead now. Deal with it."

Also, I hope this doesn't get too terribly grim and warlike. Pinkie doesn't deserve that on her conscience. She's a victim of circumstance and this seems to be going a bit too far out of control for something that she didn't even ask for. Having a bunch of soldiers and volunteer militia dying because of her accidents would probably break the poor thing, and that'd just be depressing.

Oh my it keeps getting better. Now Pinkie can control her powers... but only Gilda can understand her and everypony else think that 'Eris' and Gilda is evil and wouldn't listen to explanations. Wow!

People, you seem to be forgetting that it isn't really Dash's fault she's jumping to a conclusion. When you see your old friend who yelled at your friends, and may have murdered somepony, saying 'the sooner this is over, the better' to and acting friendly towards a draconequus who everypony has identified as an enemy, who Dash hasn't seen yet, and who's been tearing apart reality, what is your reaction, when you don't even know that there's a lot more to the (very amazing and awesome) story?

Also, it looks like Pinkie's attempt to seal her OWN powers seemed to make the more proactive Chaos (outside influence?) go into overdrive. I'm holding out hope that Pinkie's Chaos Powers are NOT the same Chaos Powers currently sweeping across Equestria. Creation (Harmonic Chaos) and Entropy (Disharmonic/Destructive Chaos) are two different things, or at least two different opposites of the same greater whole. Pinkie embodies one, while Discord embodies the other. THAT is my Headcanon. Stories that try to lump ALL Chaos in with Disharmony makes me enter Flutterrage, shouting "Fluttershy SMASH", and punch authors below the belt.

Please, Charcoal Quill, don't slander the more Chaotic elements of Harmony. MAKE that distinction. Please?

First I love your story, and I hope you post another chapter very soon, but. And it is not a big, wtf but, more like it is annoying that you keep doing this but.

you see, entrophy is not chaos, it is movement, movement in work, as in the physical force "work" not "I just used two hours carrying bricks kind of work. You see entropy is inevitability. Yes we can say that entrophy is a movement from a stage of greater order, to a state of lesser order. It is entrophy that makes ice melt in my glass melt, that which makes the temperature of the water and the ice equal, and then making the temperature of the water and the room equal.

There is nothing really chaotic about this process. the best way to describe chaos is randomness, that which happens without certainty and in and extreme case, that which happens without a cause.

Entropy will kill us, will kill the entire universe with certainty if nothing else does first.

You may think that the word "entropy" sounds fund,  but seriously stop using it, its a major busskill, every time I see that word it totally breaks immersion.

Dear concerned readers,

While I'm aware that chaos and entropy are not really the same thing at all, it's kind of hard to find synonyms for Chaos, as a concept, that don't make someone want to punch you between the goalposts. For instance, ever try using the word "anarchy"? That never ends well.

Then again, I did go through about a half-dozen synonyms in the first chapter, and they seem to have more or less been accepted without a hitch. Maybe I just wasn't trying hard enough. But on the other hand, I've got my Artistic License all payed up for with the Writer's Guild, so what's the good in having one if I can't make the occasional factual error?

In other words, while I personally am not terribly bothered by the inaccuracy of using "entropy" as "chaos", and as such am not planning on editing this out of the story, I still owe Thermodynamics an apology. I'll do that once I'm done with this post.

As for the concern about treating Chaos as "bad" magic, that's not really what I'm going for. Personally I see the distinction between Order and Chaos magic as not one between Good and Evil, but more... hmm. Let's say, between Black and White magic. Diurnal creatures that we are, humans tend to associate Light with Good and Dark with Evil, and as such the "good" and "evil" magics are labeled "white magic" and "black magic", respectively. But realistically, while black magic might be more inherently destructive and white magic more heal-y, it's still possible to use black for good and white for ill. It's the intent of the user that shapes the results, so long as the user can properly control it. But if there is no user, than that power will simply act naturally.

Personally, I feel that Order and Chaos act in much the same way. I believe I've never explicitly said that Order = Harmony and Chaos = Disharmony. Twilight's demonstrated that Order magic can be used to create disharmony, so it's only logical that Chaos can create harmony. It's the intent that shapes the results, so long as the user can properly control it. At first, Pinkie couldn't control her chaos - and keep in mind that ultimately, that power came from Discord, who almost certainly flavored the chaos with a little of his own intent. Now that Pinkie's got better control of her powers, it'll do what she wants - but the power that she'd previously released is not under her control, and so is acting naturally (or at least as naturally as Chaos magic can), with perhaps some of Discord's residual intent tainting its actions. (I draw your attention to the trout.) But now, were Pinkie to try and influence all the chaos that's been roaming free up until now, it's almost certain that she could... although if she attempted to control all that chaos at once, who's to say that it wouldn't start to influence her right back?

Of course, this is all speculation, and most of it doesn't make itself clear in the story. But to make things simple, let's spell it out here:

1. Gilda's theories are not always completely correct. She can get some exposition wrong.

2. Two types of magic are Order Magic and Chaos Magic, these types of magic can be mixed, and both can be tainted by Harmony or Disharmony. (For instance, Nightmare Moon was an example of Disharmony-tainted Order Magic, and the Elements of Harmony are a Harmony-tainted, 50/50 mix of Order and Chaos.) However, Order Magic and Chaos Magic in their natural states do not lean one way or the other.

3. Order Magic always wants to create Order, and Chaos... well, you get the picture. The influences of Harmony and Disharmony also act similarly in this regard.

4. Ultimately, however, the user of the magic determines the effects

6. Pinkie's Draconequus magic was inherited from Discord, and as such is Chaos Magic tainted with Disharmony.

7. When improperly controlled, or when left to its own devices, that magic will act in Chaotic and Disharmonious ways.

8. When properly controlling it, Pinkie is still perfectly capable of using that magic with ultimately Orderly and/or Harmonious results.

9. However, were Pinkie to try to control too much of the Disharmony-tainted Chaos Magic, it would be more difficult to for her to control, and it may even begin to influence her.

10. I bring that last point up for no reason whatsoever.

11. Not all ponies use Order Magic exclusively. Some use Chaos Magic, and some use a mix of the two. A pony's magic is naturally predisposed to Harmony or Disharmony, but so negligibly that it makes no applicable difference whatsoever. This can, however, be changed (see: Nightmare Moon.)

12. My theories are not always completely correct. I can get some exposition wrong, and it might need to change to fit the show's canon in the future.

13. If I ever write a sequel, the above rules will be clearly addressed. I've spent since the Season 2 premier writing and editing this entire story, and while this unclear-ness somehow slipped by my editor and I, I'm not in the mood to start making major edits right now. That's what retcons are for. (See above for Artistic License.)

I am quite surprised that no one figured this out already : They have got Luggage out there, and he is 100% magical resistant. All you have to do is set him on Pinkie.

Now with that out of the way, I hope we can see this Fic through without too much bloodshed. I know it says "Dark" but I still hate seeing death in MLP. But that's just personal opinion: I can't deduct points for death so long as it serves a purpose in the story. So far, thumbs up! Grammer good, Charactors good, story interesting, kinda rushed pacing especially in chapter 3.

I downloaded and skimmed through the story. I have to say, this is the biggest communication-failure chain reaction I have ever read. It's almost like some sort of sick joke made by sadistic Rune Goldberg.

I'm kinda reluctant to read completely because I think I might end up imagining myself punching half of the characters. I don't want to have an attitude like that.

Of course, there is one huge issue even if everyone does understand at the end: Discord may be the only way to fix Pinkie Pie. They either let him out or deal with uncontrollable power for a long time.

No matter how the situation plays out, he has to get out eventually. Clever...
