That removed all doubts immediately!  Steampunk has always been interesting to me, so a story with steam tech, one of my favorite ponies, and written by one of my favorite authors... no question that I'm going to love this story as much/more than Visionary!

Welp, it has happened again.  I have stumbled upon a sequel to a fiction I have yet to read, and now the only thing stopping me from diving head first into this is the fact that I haven't read the prequel.  I would ask whether or not I need to read Visionary for this to make sense, but I might as well just go read that one.  I mean, it's been in my too read list forever anyway.
