    BrookwoodBronco's Stories (8)

On the outside, he's just a baby dragon. But in his mind he's the greatest detective in Equestria. He's Spike Steel, private eye. This is a pony adaptation of a comic by Bill Watterson in "Calvin and Hobbes." This is where i got the idea, and some of the lines.

I applaud you, sir. This had to be one of the funniest and most amusing Spike-centered stories I've read in a while. For the most part, I think it's pretty much spot on with his characterization in the show as well. Overly vivid imagination due to being a baby dragon. Every single time you jumped back to the private-eye character, I couldn't help but smile all the way through.

Your style is great and this might just be because the story itself grasped my attention throughout, but I've hardly found any noticeable errors, either. Altogether, a really great job on this one, I hope to see more from you! Also, lemme congratulate you on that EqD feature, you most certainly deserved it!

This was fun to read- kind of reminds me of Pinkie's 'Detective Noir' mode in Sparkle's Law. Was that the inspiration? If not, you should totally go and read that.

But this is great by itself :)

    >>57348 Oh thank you so much. I have to give credit to the "Calvin and Hobbes" creator because much of the style came from him. But thank you, i made up all the crappy puns and one liners myself though :raritywink:

I remember the exact C&H comic that inspired this story.  You captured Calvin's fantasy through Spike very well.  The only problem was that I knew exactly how it ended since it followed the same plot.  Anyways, good job.

Oh ma, I loved this. I remember the very Calvin and Hobbes strip this comes from. I always did like those lapses into noir territory. Very well written and very funny!

I did not expect this story to be amazing, no offense, when i read it. But I was oh so wrong. This is one of the best stories I have read. Spike Steel needs another case. Soon

Atmiddely it is a little short, but I didn't want to give any spoilers, and unlike Cupcakes or My Little Dashie I didn't end up talking about morality in any way.

Hey no problem. Put out another good fanfic and I'll probably give it a review. Who knows maybe misadventures of friendship will merit that review when I get around to reading it/
