Stick around, I might write something interesting.

The Grand Galloping Gala is awful.

It can banish itself to the nearest heavenly body willing to put up with it, for all Celestia cares.

That doesn't change that fact that she has to be there, as head of state.

But maybe, just maybe, with a little help, it will be different this year.

Interesting. I like how Celestia eventually comes to blame herself in large parts for how superficial the whole Gala affair is because, yeah, the ponies are emulating what they think she wants of them. Most of them would probably start crying if they thought Celestia was disappointed in them.

And that is the root of my idea. Though this root has not yet sprouted, I am persistent.

I feel I should note that roots and seeds are different things. Well, other than potatoes and some of their relatives.

In any case, this was fun, but a bit unpolished. The opening has some excess verbiage that makes the start of the day drag on, and a lot of the story is just a run-through of "The Best Night Ever" with Celestia providing commentary.

That said, there was a fair bit to like in that commentary. You're well on your way. Keep at it, thank you for the story, and best of luck in the judging.

I was hoping no one would notice before I fixed that little comparison. I changed it to something that kind of works.

This is an entirely accurate assessment of my story. I almost feel I should apologize, because the story I created barely resembles the partier prompt. It's more like setting up for that, at the next Gala.

Honestly, I didn't write this story with the intent to win, but rather to force myself to write and get feedback to help me in the future. I'm glad you found something to like in it; that's victory enough!

This was a cute little Sunbutt story. I think it'd benefit more from her scheming more - but this seems foundation, her turning point after too long stagnating. That's nice.

I super appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback on this story!

Given the rare form Celestia was in during the next Gala episode, I feel like a foundation is exactly what this story is. There's no way she neglected to send Discord a ticket on accident.

I very possibly might write her perspective on the next Gala, because I could go nuts with her shenanigans, then.

I've always liked to imagine that Celestia has some frighteningly strong Discord tendencies, given her aptitude for fun and making light of situations. I think this is a fun portrayal of that kind of Celestia - the Celestia we've been seeing more and more of in the show, as well.

Big thanks for checking this story out and leaving a comment!

Celestia: a real mare with fears and flaws, yet on the surface she is unflappable. Except in those rare moments where she cuts loose! Harmony isn't just about order, after all, it's a balance of order with just the right amount (definitely not too much) of chaos.
