This story is a sequel to Chasing Thieves

Tirek, an international criminal mastermind with eyes in every corner of the globe, has secured two halves of a treasure that is said to lead to a land rich with magic - the land of Equestria. He still needs two more items, though, before the portal can be opened.

FBI agents Shining Armor, Chrysalis, Cadance, Blueblood and Gilda, together with Equestrian native Sunset Shimmer, must find these items before Tirek's people do. Enlisting the help of former villains familiar with Equestrian magic and archaelogical expert Daring Do, the race is on to save Equestria.

So...wait, what country are they in now?

Ri2

Tirek is a jerk.
So, how many dogs named Spike are in this world?

Ri2

Oh god, he won the election in this world?!

Ri2

Oh damn it, not him...

Dun dun daaaa, good chapter

Is it just me or does that sound like the merchant from RE4, it's just he keeps on saying stranger. He's also from Spain, who else could he be.

Xiaolin Showdown in this world?

Don't know how to feel about this.

Spike being Scorpan's dog is pretty weird, especially if you're doing this in the same continuity as your earlier Trixie fic in which event Sci-Twi already has a dog Spike.

Considering the amount of men Doctor Caballeron has been willing to sacrifice, it seems a little out of place that he rescues Daring, either doing so because she's a pretty face or he considers her competent enough to actually get a treasure, and uses her to get the treasure which he then steals from her immediately afterwards. Well, with Daring's mantra about getting treasures into museums it always did feel a little weird that Caballeron or Ahuizotl don't just raid the museum afterwards to steal the artifact anyways.

Scorpan, while being whipped by human Tirek, already seems like a hugely formidable threat in his own right.

Scorpan sounds pretty ruthless. Really, if it weren't for the fact he's apparently a big softie who's being blackmailed into this due to Tirek holding his dog of all things hostage, Scorpan could be the villain of this piece in his own right. Of course, deciding not to have DD sniped from afar because he can't be sure of his death was the moment where anybody can be pretty certain the plot will bend for Daring regardless of how ruthless the villains are.

I suppose Tirek's not quite at the stage of being a criminal overlord that he can just order a plane blown up out of the sky.

Is that a Prez Donald Trump?

He's gonna build a wall around around the portal and make Equestria pay for it!

(To be fair, though, Equestria has dumped at least three villains into the United States that have been a huge nuisance, and Sunset Shimmer blew up a schoolyard and went axe-crazy. Meanwhile, when's the last time a citizen of the U.S. been able to go to Equestria?!)

Also, Braeburn totes isn't gay, considering his shipping with Little Strongheart. He's able to turn others gay by proximity though :trollestia:

Gee, and I wonder how that stone got there. Hopefully it's not yet another thing that Equestria dumped in another world so it couldn't be used against ponykind!

'Vespanian'?

Considering you're not afraid to put these stories in the U.S., and even in Maine proper, it's a little bit baffling you resort to a fictional country for back-up purposes, unless it's supposed to be some sort of batpony country analogue.

Never mind a single nuclear warhead merely being enough. I wonder just how small the landmass of Equestria is in your headcanon. If it's a smallish country, then a single nuke could contaminate the entire country with the radioactive fallout.

A little bit funny to see Daring Do fangirl over the idea of magic being real, though if she's anything like her Equestrian counterpart one would expect her to have cottoned on to its existence beforehand.

Of course Princess Celestia would have him imprisoned for good. It's not like she would ever care to think about using anything like the Elements of Harmony or Crystal Heart on anypony she doesn't want saved :trollestia:

"Agent D'Coolette, sir."
"Agent St. John, sir."

"Agent Chekhov's Gun, sir."

"Agent Totally-Not-Suffering-From-Chronic-Backstabber-Syndrome, sir."

Ooooh, Daring's gotten herself into a few bad deals over the year. I wonder if this will be the Ahuizotl expy she's talking about.

...and now my brain has me wondering if we'll see a human Quibble Pants sooner or later.

I see the Merchant once more makes an appearance. At least this time he isn't Displacing anybody.

Never mind a single nuclear warhead merely being enough.

The idea is that Equestria doesn't know what a nuclear warhead even is, so if he displays a power that large, they wouldn't know:

A) If it was magic or technology
B) If he can do it again and what limits there are to it
C) How to counter it, if at all

Just like how the Japanese surrendered after the bomb was dropped, Equestria would have no choice because they couldn't risk Tirek having more at his disposal.

"Agent D'Coolette, sir."

"Agent St. John, sir."

I see you are also a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, both those characters are members of the Royal Guard in the Sonic world.

Somehow I doubt Scorpan will break though. Unless of course somebody happens to bring a dog, cat or pony in while interrogating him.

"We're going after her," Sombra said, staring at the file as Cadance and Gilda turned to him in unison. "We're following this girl, 'Diana Thorpe'… Her real name is Radiant Hope."

Hmm, let's see...Diana Thorpe...Radiant Hope...oh, I get it!

Dang, son. That's a ruthless attitude to take.

Radiant Hope's attitude right when she says she and Sombra were always together gives me the impression she wants the Sombra D.

Well, it looks like Radiant Hope still has a bit of her own agenda.

Quick thinking on Shining Armor's part, but not enough to keep them from falling into the trap to begin with :trollestia:

Maybe this chapter would be better titled 'Sonata Dusk is a hardcore badass'

So yet another one of Tirek's big underlings down.

Though not blowing up Tirek's helicopter because it has the nuclear warhead on it _is_ a plot contrivance. It's not like blowing up the nuclear warhead is going to cause a nuclear reaction. Nuclear material isn't that volatile, you need to actually have a set-up to kickstart the reaction.

Did you just crossover Jackie Chan Adventures into this fic? :duck: I recognise Uncle's mannerisms.

With so many of their agents down or missing, now might be a good time to bring Trixie back into the fold, Sunset. :trixieshiftright:

Clearly PandaBubba never read the Evil Overlord List.

This chapter just makes me think Scorpan is a giant pussy. Well, Tirek made a mistake on the Evil Overlord List, so now he has a pissed-off Scorpan with tons of knowledge about how his organisation works who's going to come after him.

8238699

Yeeeeah, not the cleverst but, hey, it works.

8238776

Hmmm, not too sure on that. Tbh I figure even if the soldiers know that, would they wanna take that chance?

8238785

Oh man. I was originally planning on it, hence it being in San Fransisco, but when I got to this point I realised I don't know how to write Uncle XDDD So I just made it your cliché Chine ancient artefact store, using Uncle as a basis.

8238957

He kinda is, but he was sorta pampered and over-protected that way.

The general idea was that Tirek initally used Spike to extort him for 'minor' things, like the thefts and some blackmail. Gradually it'd escalate, until Scorpan's record became so tainted that Tirek didn't even need Spike anymore - it was just icing on the cake to ensure Scorpan's obedience.

My original plan for Spike was for him to have originally been a human child, transformed into a dog by Tirek's magic, but like... I dunno, the idea of Tirek breaking Scorpan like this - having him realise he let all this happen over the life of a stray dog - just appealed to me more.

Bon Bon, but no Trixie? How disappointing.

I could imagine if Daring Do went into Equestria it'd make a stir if somepony saw her in her Daring Do guise.

And Sombra shows up in time to be the big damn hero.

God there is nothing better than a well written Sombra.

Oh. Heck. That's no good.

8243917

I'll try ta provide you with that next time :D

Tirek already captured all of the ponies by the time Sunset and co. got in? Even with Twilight surrendering, he sure works fast.

After all that destruction and magic, still no Celestia or Luna or even Discord to save the day. Celly's probably too busy eating cake :trollestia:

Well, happy endings all around. Nothing says an ending like meeting your idol... Even if it was something else.

With the stone that makes portals into ponyland in the clutches of Daring's Rival I would like to believe that he shall be the nect villain, or at least a possible next story where the 'Human' and Pony worlds connect via a permanent portal, as per fine story growth goes, I mean, more and more magic growing and appearing into their world.

Still, a good way to end, and hope to see where this one goes.

I was thinking "...seriously?" when Tirek fell to his doom at the start of the chapter. Well, at least he managed to make it back for a proper climax, even if the camper managed to get him.

Dog, cat and pony show? :pinkiehappy:

Oh, god. The Sirens there had me in stitches!

Ooh, this is either gonna backfire spectacularly, or Sombrero's gonna pull a heroic sacrifice.

Catrina, Hydia, good on you for digging into G1 lore.

Poor Hydia, no one ever said. ;)

Damn, that was kind of sweet of the good Doctor.

Ooh. This was a good chapter.
