I'm a long time science fiction and animation fan who stumbled into My Little Pony fandom and got caught -- I guess I'm a Brony Forever now.

YOH 1492 (eight years Before Luna's Return): Sweetie Stork, rural midwife, is flying home from an errand of mercy in the deep Mane woods when she is forced to the ground by a severe snowstorm. She is in desperate need of warmth and shelter. Will she survive? What warm shelter can she find, from the lonely cold and the raging storm?

Will watch to see where this is going. But I would think that Pegasus magic in general would both protect against cold, thin air and rapid altitude change. The former would allow them to live in cloud cites at all, and the latter would make it so they did not grey out on some of the stunts the do on the show. I mean Dashie wasn't even shivering that much when she was helping the Princesses fight the storm of the Crystal empire. Or maybe she was in worst shape then the we all though. The are probable limits to it after all.

The aphorism, which she had frequently heard her mother say when that worthy had still been alive, Stork had seen confirmed by numerous disappointments and tragedies.

Is that the right word? I've never seen it used that way.

It does protect Storkie against the cold. That's why she can fly through a witer storm, naked, without freezing to death. The problem is that this storm is worse than normal, and it hit faster than she expected. Her weather resistance has its limits.

She also has a hairy, thick hide compared to a Human. You or I would be unconscious in minutes, naked in midair in that sort of weather. The Ponies lack a nudity taboo in part because they need clothes less than we do.

Hmm. Not sure where you're going with this, but I'm getting a pleasant Jack London vibe, albeit with ponies instead of wolves. Bit of a difference. :raritywink:

In any case, I look forward to seeing what's in store for poor Sweetie Stork.

7963270 Yep, "worthy" is the right word, a term of deep respect. See also the medieval idea of the "Nine Worthies" (which is probably a little more than Sweetie's going for, even for her mother.)

Hmmm what an interesting choice at the end of this chapter. If she didn't, she would die. Wow this is going to be exciting.

I always wondered why Pegasi can't just automatically walk on top of snow or water. I mean, they're both basically incredibly dense cloud, right? It's like if I was able to walk on top of quicksand but sank through solid stone.

I really like the song shelter from the storm, so I guess its only fitting I like this too.
