Featured Sci-Fi Story: "Equus Metamorphosis" ( http://bit.ly/1YnanMR )

E

There is no easy way to describe this short work of surrealist prose. Rarity has a dream and this is the written form of her journey. The images meld and fuse as the unicorn attempts to understand the secrets hidden in all of the symbols washing up on the shores of her mind.

The point is not to understand the writing, but to move with it and enjoy the flow of images and words.

Hurray, somepony who knows how to write. Great work, have a like.

Wonderful. I would love to see this played out somehow.

And then the door opened...

It is rare to find a fic that has not received a single dislike. Mostly a troll or two will just hit that red thumb for the hell of it, so this fic must be something quite spectacular.
*immediately adds to read later list with the intention of reading it the second my history homework is finished*:rainbowdetermined2:

That was certainly interesting and quite well written, BGB, and I will be keeping an eye out for the others.

Ponies need to come to terms with their humanity... :rainbowderp:

IT'S A TARP!

nah, but I enjoyed the story, you painted a sort of surreal setting for the dream which I found quite amusing. Don't see a lot of stories about Rarity anymore, either. Congrats on having the ingenuity to create something like this :pinkiehappy:

*edit* I suppose it says surreal in the description... doesn't it...

This was beautiful. I love the nonsensical flow of events; it really felt like a dream.

Ooh! I had been waiting for this one to be posted!

The story was really interesting, it was a bit strange as well but in a way that captures how strange dreams can be rather than being disjointed. By the way, have you ever read "A nightmare to remember?" it's one of my personal favourites and in some respects you story reminds me of it (-^u^-)

I guess I should thank you in a small way for reminding me that "Random" tagged "stories" are a complete waste of existent. Why don't you try writing a real story next time? Dislike from me, if it wasn't obvious.

Thanks! Zecora approves of your rhyme-style life. :pinkiehappy:

I shall take those stache-spike awards and cherish them. Thanks!

Simply adorable.

In these types of surrealist stories, I have so may potential opportunities for expanding upon it. Remember the 4th frozen alicorn? That's one possible new thread.

You'll find that this story is very, very into the realm of dreamspeak and random imagery. There is, however, a connection between all of it. Most of it is in the wordplay and double meanings, as well as rhymes and word association.

There will definitely be others and since I'm flexing my creative muscle with a skill I have used in a while, the surrealist style in this piece will be significantly different than the others which come after it. I'll even be able to write longer pieces later.

856614 Well, I'm really looking forward to what you do in the future. Whatever inspires you go ahead and let it. :derpytongue2:

One of the things I like about writing surrealist stories like this is the dreamlike atmosphere of shifting images and character relationships. Very little is set and unchangeable and as a result, there is much more that can be explored when the words don't have to follow the normal associations of everyday language.

Thank you! In many ways, surrealist writing follows a lot of styles of poetry, but in a more narrative-style prose form. I'm not sure I can think of a prose writer whose work is similar to this, but there were surrealists who pioneered such things back at the turn of the last century.

"A nightmare to remember," huh? I should take a look at that later

But thank you for the compliments! There's a new one I wrote about Twilight Sparkle and that one is going to have several parts with a few more pony and non-pony characters. You just check it out!

856589 You read that fic! :yay:

So, surrealism? At any rate the imagery was interesting and well-constructed. I wasn't looking for symbolism, though any one of the aspects could probably be made to fit a handle. For the time it took to read it, it wasn't a throwaway, and as far as the site goes, I'd say this fits the term "unique". Thanks for the read.

Thank you for thoughtful comment! Surrealism is one of my favorite genres, and you're right, if you try hard enough, you can probably make a surrealist piece of work fit multiple interpretations.

This one and the Twilight surrealist story have different feelings to them. This is more freeform while the Twilight one was purposely pushed in a direction during its creation to make a semi-coherent storyline.

Thanks again!
