ArcSeraphim

I never was a writer, only a reader, composer, and musician. Although you can expect a few stories, but they're rare.

T

After the events in Boast Busters, Trixie wanders the barren Equestrian countryside. She chances upon an inn, an inn with the stangest innkeeper.

No descriptive gore.

Short story based on Roald Dahl's 1954 short story 'The Landlady' from 'Tales of the Unexpected'.

Well isn't this a nice little ambitious horror story? Light and short in presentation, no outward exhibition of flaws, and quite and interesting premise to pull off. Though I'm not so sure it's in the style of Roald Dahl. It reminds me of a much lighter Stephan King novel actually. Either way, good on ya mate.

The landlady was one of the best short stories ever written. Nd you did it justice :-)

However, I'm pretty sure that Roald Dahl could take a crap on a piece of paper and it would be on the bestseller list within seconds.

Nice work. Liked and Faced.:scootangel:

At the beginning:  ooh, a suspense story, imma read it

Thank you for the complements. Go read 'The Landlady'. The events are similar, except for this story's orientation and ending.

Thanks. I recently dug up the old books I had read during my teenage years, and I'm glad I found relation to ponies.

Thank you. It's a one-shot/short story, it's not meant to be continued. Although I am tempted to do another fic based on Dahl's 'Lamb to the Slaughter' (from the same book)

My first ever fic (if you don't count 'Pinkie, Model' which I wrote with cherrypiex), and wrote it in one day (half of it in the toilet :derpytongue2:) so it's kinda rushed. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

849278Although not the longest, I think that I may account this as one of the favorite fics I've ever read.:pinkiesad2:

All right. I don't usually write reviews but when I do, it means I've just read a damn good fic.

So, if you get it, I've just read a damn good fic.

To begin with, I've never been into [Dark] and especially [Tragedy] fics. I tried to avoid them like poisonous snakes breathing nuclear fire, if you get what I mean. But I decided to give this one a shot.

The beginning didn't impress me much, to be honest. I've seen much noire artwork that maintained the same dark-ish atmosphere. But from the moment *SPOILERS* Trixie went into the inn, my attention was drawn completely. You painted the character of the innkeeper so well that I really could imagine him. As well as imagine all the events that took place. And that sent shivers down my spine. The end was extremely predictable but you managed to serve it in a very exquisite way. Overall, it was a great fic, albeit short. Though, its shortness wasn't its flaw; more of an advantage, if you ask me.

However, there was a sentence which made me think you've messed tenses slightly: North Star just loved milk in his tea, he puts copious amounts in it! You might have meant put? If not, then it makes the situation much creepier, by showing that North Star is still "alive" in the innkeeper's mind...

Thumbed up and favourited. To be sent to EqD immediately.

9/10.

Peace.

Btw, may I have the permission to draw a picture for you to use as your cover art in my DeviantArt page. It will have a link to this story.
