Fluttershy has seen and learned about many different types of animals. At the same time, there were many she didn't know. Now she would discover one of those creatures she's never seen.
Actually, it was probably a creature nopony's ever seen. It looked like a pony, but to Fluttershy, behaved like an animal. After all, she felt the same joy around it that she felt with all her critters. But what was it?
And most importantly, why was Rainbow Dash that creature?

How is Fluttershy even still alive if the creature (Rainbow Dash) pulled the yellow Pegasus into it's mouth? Surely the creature would have swallowed her or something.

Technically, Fluttershy was swallowed. But she did not go to the stomach.
Tatzlponies have seperate 'pouches' where they can store objects and ponies to be later regurgitated.
The pouches are seperate to the stomach and are not attached to the digestive system.
The pouches only exist to hold items that the Tatzlpony does not wish to eat, yet swallows.
Both of these replies are facts taken from Tatzlpony canon. However, said canon is interpreted in many different ways. Some artists draw Tatzlponies differently than others, and do not have the 'holding pouch' canon.
Regardless, however: One constant is that Tatzlponies are symbiotic creatures, and hold no ill will with ponies.

No ill will towards ponydom, unless you're the pony that was mind-wiped and transformed into a tazlpony, heh. I recall another story where it was Luna that got transformed and was about as smart as AJ's dog, Winowa. Granted, that story was pretty much for the fetish and not much else. But as you say, the lore itself is pretty slim and allows for quite a bit of interpretation... kind of like changeling stories. I do hope we get an answer (or at least a hint) of what's going on after this teaser of a first chapter.
Looks interesting, though hopefully Dash gets her mind back. Transformation is one thing, but full on mind wipe is actually pretty dark.
So upon recommending this fic to a friend, I realized my earlier review may not have encompassed everything that I wanted to say about this story. Therefore, I'm expanding it in this comment. Yes, I realize the edit button is a thing. No, I really don't care. :P
I'm really intrigued as to where this story is going to lead. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that, to my recollection, I've never heard of a tatzlpony before this, or even some sort of regular mythical creature that the tatzlpony was based off of, so this was automatically going to be a cool story for me. That, and the two main characters. My first OTP when I entered the fandom over 4 years ago was Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, so I've always had sort of a soft spot for stories involving these two characters.
The setup to the main bit of the story was nice. It wasn't just "this character is now like this for no reason." You actually set it up properly, and I like that. Also, I was a bit surprised that the tatzl Rainbow Dash wasn't just a tatzlpony that just happened to look like her, but was actually Rainbow Dash transformed into a tatzlpony. I wasn't expecting that, and things happening that I didn't expect to happen is a surefire way of keeping me interested.
Fluttershy is surprisingly in-character here. It also gives a bit of a side to Fluttershy's interactions that normally isn't explored in stories like this. Namely, her initial reaction of surprise and a bit of happiness at the arrival of this creature is tempered slightly by the realization that she's never seen this creature before, she knows nothing about it, and she has no idea if it has any ill will towards her, despite its familiar appearance. It's nice.
So overall? I stand by my original thoughts on this. I'm definitely going to be tracking it, and I hope the next chapters are just as good (though I don't doubt they will be).

I like the story so far and I'm interested to see where it goes. Set up is appropriate and so far fluttershy's reactions are natural. I'm not good at finding grammer mistakes as I'm not a grammer Nazi. My killers are story flow and the natural progression of the characters.
Makes me wonder if Zecora has anything for it, like she did with Poison Joke; another highly transformative item from the Everfree.

I never heard Angel make any noise in the show so I always thought he was a mute and charades was his only form of communication. And I agree, Angel is still a grump, but he's been acting better then he use to.

Yeah, I just assumed this because the rest of her animals either chirp or squeak to speak to her and I had rabbits that squeaked when I did something they didn't like.
Thinking about it now Angel is the only rabbit Fluttershy actually talks to in the show. maybe it really is a bunny thing.
Why the fuck would she do that exactly... Fluttershy show's and claims their mutual friend has changed to an odd creature with possible memory loss. A spell show's that rainbow is indeed the creature. And twilight zaps back to normal with rainbow unconscious sends her back home... Not a hospital, not put her on the sofa to observe when she wakes up to verify amnesia, nothing. "ok she's a pony again problem solved no questions asked. Now go the fuck home i got reading to do." That's what I got out of that.
