Ivory Piano

E

Within the Wonderbolts, only a select few are chosen to perform death-defying stunts for a cheering crowd of thousands of ponies. This year, Rainbow Dash was not one of those few. A bet and a race against Spitfire might prove her last chance to get in. But in order to win, she needs an ace up her sleeve, a trump card. She needs a coach, someone that understands flying at an innate level.

She never thought that someone would be Big Macintosh.

Basically an 80's sports movie where Big Mac is Mr. Miyagi, Rainbow Dash is Ralph Machio, and Spitfire is that asshole from the other dojo. So...Spitfire.

Well, colour me surprised. I'd never would have guessed you also participated in the Write-offs.

This was just as enjoyable as the first time around, and the ending is much stronger this time, much more fitting. I don't have much to add beyond what you've already heard. So allow me to congratulate you again on writing an uplifting sports tale.

And now I kinda feel like jogging.

Man, this is a great story! Will we see this referenced in Getting Complicated? I love the idea of Mac being an amazing flight coach despite his lack of wings.

I thumbed up comments on this because I can't like this more than once

I'm gonna give you a like just for that Karate Kid reference.

“I swear, you two are gonna be the death of me.”

Every mare in every Ivory Piano story will be the death of Mac. I'm surprised all of the collective timeline Mac's are still breathing.

I have no idea what I have expected - great things, sure. But this was even better than that. Also, a nice little touch that Dash hadn't outright won, as is the case in most stories/movies of this type, but lost by a fraction.

Also after Mac's proclamation of "An hour." had the best reaction from the two :rainbowlaugh:

All in all though, greatly enjoyable read. Certainly deserved the like and fav - just wishing it got a bit more attention.

This had no real romantic plot or overtones, but Spitfire showed just enough possessiveness for me to pretend it's Big Fire shipping anyhow.

Love the interactions here. Makes the debate of Macindash vs Macinfire in my head that much more intense. Then the Fleetmac sails in...
