Fluttershy was ready to enjoy a nice, cozy night by herself on Hearth's Warming Eve. That is, until Rainbow Dash arrived on her snowy doorstep and turned Fluttershy's whole world upside down with three little words.

You know, I love these two as sisters, but I really wanted them to get together here.:raritydespair: Unrequited love just sucks.:fluttershysad:

Decent fic.

I don't really care for this ship as much as I used to, I view it as sisterly.
And plus, I'd rather do RariDash/PinkieDash for RD & TwiShy/RariShy for Flutters...

But that's just me.

Unrequited love. That's my whole life. I texted my best friend one time because I had to let some of my feelings out, only to have her reply with a "Aw thanks. You're like a brother to me." I was crushed. At least I was hiding behind a text like a coward (it's that same girl I vented to you about a while back, but I won't go into that again).

This really speaks to me since I've experienced unrequited love so many times, never being reciprocated once. I feel for Rainbow, thinking for such a long time that your crush feels the same about you only to make a huge move and discover you're wrong. And I feel for Fluttershy since I know the poor thing doesn't want to break her friend's heart, yet she has to be honest. There's no escape from reality for either of them, and it really sucks.

I personally don't ship FlutterDash that much since Rainbow takes her for granted a lot, but this was heartwrenching.

Well done, Leah, as always. I hope you win something.

OH CELESTIA, THE FEELS!!!:fluttershyouch:

It's hard to feel sympathetic for people who have unrequited love, mostly because they tend to see the objects of their affections as exactly that: objects. Not people.

Of course, that wasn't a criticism of your story, which I thought was fine.

Someone should do an audio reading of this! Great job Leah! This is amazing :pinkiehappy:
Yet so...."sniff".... touching :applecry:

In the morning, Fluttershy envisioned a wonderful white wonderland, just right for snow angles.

Angels.

As always, your writing was great! :yay: I'd remove the spoiler in the description though, since it gives away too much of the plot.

7602883
Dang it, I thought I fixed that:rainbowlaugh: Thanks!

omg you made me cry at 5 in the morning! That was really really good:fluttercry:

Awww, poor Rainbow.

This is awesome. Like, seriously.

"R-rainbow?!" she chocked out, struggling to pull herself up.

choked

Ah, the feels. Yup. You're good at this.

well done miss pie.

Pardon me, are you Aaron Burr, sir?

7603345
That depends, who's asking?

Ow, right in the feels. Good story, Harmony Pie!

I haven't squeed in a while. Thank you.

This is really sweet! Nice work, Harmony!

Cute and well-written, but kinda sad for my taste.

Maybe something with a happy ending next time?

Congrats on the feature

I didn't realize it was featured! Congrats :rainbowkiss:

This story was a pleasure to read. Be proud of it.

Except this:
7603062 :twilightoops: :facehoof: :facehoof: :facehoof: I even pointed this out in editing.

7603354 Oh well sure sir. I'm Alexander Hamilton I'm at your service sir. I have been looking for you.

7604317 Oh my gosh, you like Hamilton too?!:raritystarry:

This was really... Cute. Fluffy cuteness. You write those well.
Even though it was only almost Flutterdash *sigh*

7604488 Who doesn't? I'm obsessed with it right now:twilightsheepish:

7604489

Hang on, you're that writer who killed Dinky, aren't you?

Dammit, girl! That's twice now. :ajbemused:

7604724
Yep. But they have the tags for a reason:derpytongue2:

7604749

I technically can't argue with that. Dammit.

Sad stories can still have happy endings, though. In fact, they kinda work very well together.

A sweet little fic, though I'd probably say "bittersweet" before "sad", but there isn't a tag for that.

7603976 What? You say that as if Rainbow making the confession earlier would have changed Fluttershy's answer. It wouldn't have.

7602699 7602805
Friendship is a gift. Not a consolation prize.

7606721 I know. Sorry for being a cynical bastard. :ajsleepy:

7607468 …How though? That's not how love works. That's not how any of this works. What, exactly, would have been different had Rainbow confessed a year ago as to today? Why would that have made any difference on Fluttershy's part?

If Fluttershy wasn't interested in Rainbow before, she won't be interested now. If she isn't interested now, then (unless Rainbow did something really bad to make her change her mind) she more than likely was never interested in Rainbow in the first place.

People often overestimate the agency that the confessing party has on the receiving party. If a person just flat out isn't interested in another person, it's not really something either person has the power to change.

yeouch! Poor Rainbow.

Great read though I can't help but wonder what this might mean for there's friendship going forward.

I wrote a review of this story in Read It Now #93.

My review can be found here.

I'm fine with them as sister but... I ship them :fluttershysad: *sigh* they would've made such a nice couple... Luckily I also ship TwiDash. But FlutterDash is better in my opinion. A beautiful story nonetheless

:rainbowkiss: *Kisses Fluttershy*
:fluttershyouch: Ummm, I don't love you. Sorry.

Rainbow Dash got friendzoned.

I thought this was going to be another gag-me FlutterDash story, but it turned out to be a very nice story where Flutters rightfully thinks of Rainbow as her sister. This was adorable, but I can never ship FlutterDash. I'm sorry. I ship Fluttercord and AppleDash. :pinkiesad2:

Well...that wasn't what I was expecting. But it's such an interesting concept, and it was very well written. You are an ace of romance, my friend. :raritywink:
