You probably don't know him.

so this just an anthorpogy rip off? And no shipping? Not seeing why I should read yet or what makes it stand out from other lyra being human fics yet

Well, I for one definitely liked this one. I have always shunned Anthro-esque stories like the plague, and only rarely look at EQG stories, but if there is somepony I would like to follow on this adventure it would be Lyra. Keep up the good work!

I've never read a fic about human Lyra and Pony Lyra switching places. I'm intrigued. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see how it pans out.

“Should we be charging for this?” asked Scootaloo.

Yes, yes you should

There's only one solution to the identity crisis that human Bon Bon is having: A foursome involving the two pairs.

But on a more serious note:

“Is it strange that even though I’m in the body of a unicorn with the power to make things fly through the air, the fact that you don’t have television is one of the hardest things for me to wrap my head around?”

That is one of the most amusing fanfic lines I've ever come across.

I can't tell if "Fribzee" is accidental or deliberate.
My first guess was the former, but after the second time, I'm leaning more towards the latter...
And the fact that I can't tell is bugging me.

Deliberate. Don't wanna say Frisbee™ in a story based on Hasbro's intellectual property!

Darn it Starlight, you just made things a lot more complicated...:facehoof:

Good story, I loved it.

Oof! That was a real tearjerker. Hit me right in the feels.

Buena historia, el final fue tan malo y dio tanto asco por su falta de sentido que mejor hubieras terminado la historia con el capitulo pasado.

Face it, Cutie Mark Crusaders: I expect Lyra will find the true meaning of her Cutie Mark a lot more easily going off on a journey to a foreign world altogether than she will sitting around chatting it over with you. Them's just the breaks :applecry: :unsuresweetie:

Well, at least Bon Bon knows where Lyra went in the event anything goes bad (Earth ponies do have magic though, just not as easily expressed as unicorns do). Which of course something will.

Well, this isn't all bad. While Starlight unknowingly goofed, human-turned-pony Lyra should still at least know how to get back, and if it means she'll have to reveal what happened to somepony, so be it. She might even get lucky and only have to tell Spike or Starlight, and not get in trouble with Rapidashcorn (Twilight). And if nothing else, the two Bon-Bons can help the two Lyras keep the illusion up for a little longer (at least in the case of Canterlot High School, everyone there already knows about the pony world, it's just human Lyra's parents they'll need to be wary about figuring it out).

If only human Bon Bon had actually stopped and thought over Lyra's mention of gold bits for two seconds. Of course, it could be possible the bits have residual magic in them and so it can't stay in the human world, but still, you could've been rich Bonnie!

Lyra doesn't realise just how much she might get her wish with staying in the human world. She should at least read the two chapters of said boring novel, though!

It's beginning to look a little bit like the two Lyras aren't really encountering much of a culture shock yet. Pony Lyra is at least open-minded enough to apparently be wowed by all the new things, rather than nervous and jitterish at how advanced human technology is. If anything, it's Bon-Bon who's worried that her Lyra won't want to come back, and it might end up being the same for the human Bon-Bon too. And they still haven't realised the portal has been deactivated, too.

Well, at least both Lyras aren't digging themselves any deeper. Both of them are willing to fess up so that they can trade places again and get back to their original spot. That's a good, smart, responsible thing.

Of course, given this has to be at least post-Rainbow Rocks, the entire school population of CHS should know by now about magical ponies, so while it's understandable Lyra doesn't want to inadvertently give herself away to anyone more than she has to, it won't be a disaster if she does either.

Hah, you know what? Something I was expecting to see but didn't really was a conversation between the Lyras and Bon-Bons about their age differences, since pony Lyra is several years older than human Lyra. It's briefly mentioned but otherwise brushed aside. Pony Bon-Bon might be seeing human-turned-pony Lyra as a younger sister almost, but that's about it from what I've seen so far.

I was honestly expecting Lyra to pony-up when she played her lyre during the musical act, just to throw some last-minute drama into the story. It's a good thing for everyone's sakes that she didn't. Plus she made it through a whole day of high school! While she wasn't a registered student like Princess Twilight was, at least she was filling in for a registered student, and doesn't that make all the difference to how legal it was?

(No it doesn't)

Well, Lyra's going to 'face the music' either way, pun definitely intended. But of course for this kind of story, it's pretty much almost a guarantee that she'll have found her inspiration from her impromptu lyre play and decide to return home.

Besides, if Twilight wants to punish her, she can always point out that there seems to be no issue with Sunset Shimmer being in the human world :trollestia:

And done. Well, it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission, as somebody earlier in this story did, so Lyra got her adventure in the human world (of course, she still doesn't bring up the point that Sunset gets to stay in the human world, but whatever).

Thanks for all of the comments!

Yeah, Lyra is still hoping against hope that some improbable solution will present itself before she has to confess what she did to Twilight.

I'll be honest: That's something that didn't fully cross my mind while I was writing this. (And it makes that one scene between pony Lyra and human Bon Bon in human Lyra's room more uncomfortable than I intended, now that I think about it. Um...)

I suppose I was largely working under the "ponies mature in fewer years than humans do" interpretation, extrapolating that to mean that the Equestria Girls characters and the pony world characters are roughly on par with one another (I assume the Equestria Girls characters are high school seniors, and the pony world characters are equal to what would be early, early 20s in human years, so it isn't too big of a difference). Of course, the show itself aged up the Cutie Mark Crusaders to get them into Canterlot High School, so if the source material is willing to play fast and loose with ages to serve the plot, then so am I.

(I also am going to assume that the ponies don't spend as many years in school as humans do, which also helps smooth over the perceived age/maturity difference. Also because otherwise my explanation above doesn't jibe with the story I'm currently writing, and I'm too far along now to figure out a way around that.)

Mostly, my thought process was that both Bon Bons are simply having a weird time interacting with what appears to be their girlfriend, but it's their girlfriend's body inhabited by a different person, but that different person is a version of their girlfriend from another dimension, so they still get along with them platonically... I tried imagining how I would react to that if somehow that happened to me. It's a real mindfreak. If I had explored it further, you're right that it probably would have resembled a sisterly relationship.

Really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for writing.

"While the machine was working, she went upstairs to the bedroom and tried to think of a way to find out where the lawn mower was without revealing that she was actually a pony from another dimension."

It's lines like this that remind me why I read fan fiction.

Congratulations!

This is quite an underrated fic IMHO. It's a very simple setup, but there's a ton of charm to it and given the popular Lyra headcanon, it only makes sense for someone to take this idea to its fullest with EqG. Seeing the Lyras experience each others' lives was really fun, and it made for a heartwarming story in the end, both in terms of her relationship and where she truly belongs.

this should be fun, I can already picture Lyra popping out of the portal screaming "human? human!"

Well shit that's not good and things just got a hell of a lot trickier with starlight around

Oh boy and therein lies the other problem when someone from another world finds things more enjoyable they don't want to leave

I agree she's fitting in relatively well however sooner or later somebody's going to catch on and with her luck it's probably going to be sunset shimmer and she is not going to be happy about any of this

Well either way it's twilight's going to be pissed and sunset shimmers not going to be happy either

“I just got back into town,” she said. “Everypony says you’re looking for me?”

oh this isn't going to be an easy explanation and I'm going to wait your starlights going to have a twilight level freak out here

Well I was wrong about the twilight level freak out but this is trespassing to very difficult Waters well even more difficult than already is but you get the point

I'm going to wait your starlights going to have a twilight level freak out here

Well I was wrong about the twilight level freak out

In my defense, this story was published during the mid-season break of season six, so with only a couple of her episodes to go by, I largely had to guess at how Starlight would be utilized in the show. Turns out I didn't predict her character very well.
