It was an ordinary day in the life of Scootaloo, although in the life of most other fillies her age the day she had experienced was actually pretty far from ordinary. This was to be expected, as ordinary days are defined by the ponies experiencing them, and if the ponies themselves are not ordinary then their definition of ordinary is defined by the lack of ordinary, ordinarily.

And then the wrong pony asked the right question, and things took a confusing turn.

Ah, never gonna live that one down, Scoots.

Well, that would've resolved itself nicely had there been anything to resolve. Of course, these two were speaking hypothetically, so there wasn't. A lovely exchange of what-ifs.

The Title has a typo :ajbemused:

"The Gratuitous Quest For Gaurdians In Legality And Also Unlimited Milkshakes"

Guardian, ya got the A & U the wrong way round.

Unless it's a joke and the point of the story, that is massively glaring.

Interesting take on the Orphanloo fics, most certainly. I like how you potrayed Cheerilee in this, it has a certain... Je ne sais quois to it.
Also, Chalkboard the Mute Paper Allergic Wine-sniffing Butler is something I'd love to be real but it's not happening anytime soon.

I'm really hoping season 6 at some point shows us her parents or anything that shows she isn't a orphan.

7295569 They've made a start with Fluttershy. For a long while there, the conspiracy theory guy who said that pegasI didn't have family was hard to refute on account of no pegasI having canon parents other tHan Pound Cake being a thing. Canon can be weird.

7295707 Well we did see Rainbow Dad at one point. But I always thought they sent there kids off to the agoge-now known as flight camp for a few years. I kind of figure Scoots didn't like it and escaped but she has parents and there looking for her or they live nearby and are just not active in her life.

Pretty silly story, nice. :ajsmug:

Huh. They have chapels??

The ultimate twist should be that Scootaloo does indeed have a butler named Chalkboard who is mute, allergic to paper, has a wine addiction, and uses wing sign language to communicate.

I liked this story

Ok so...
Orphan making up tall tales, then Cheerilee simplifies paperwork by signing herself as Scootaloo's legal guardian?

Any sequel coming?

their friday free drink hour

Friday is supposed to be capitalized.

It was every saturday

As is Saturday.

Okay, so you spent your thursdays playing poker.

Days = proper nouns = CAPITALIZATION.

Okay, I'll stop. I mean, these aren't the only errors, but I'll stop.

----

Genuinely fun bit of story. People probably want a sequel because it feels like a prologue.

That was adorable.

And then Scootaloo's parents show up and accuse Cheerilee of kidnapping...

Dialogue was a delight. Really enjoyed this.

"Funny thing, actually, he's allergic to paper."
Cheerilee frowned. "What."

:rainbowlaugh:

This was great. :pinkiehappy:Your dialogue was both quick-witted and hilarious, and everything seems perfectly formatted. There weren't any mechanical errors that I noticed, and my immersion was uninterrupted throughout.

I know there's been discussion of a sequel; if you write one, maybe we could have a fic in the same style, except with Cheerilee bantering with the authorities?

Very cute. I can Scootaloo was very clever in this.

Wait, so did she want to adopt Scootaloo?

As soon as I read the title I knew this would be good. And it was! The lies Scootaloo makes up about Chalkboard sounds like something that I would say. And now I really like the idea of Cheerilee and Berry Punch being sisters. Also, does this remind anyone else if that one episode of Animaniacs where Slappy goes into rehabilitation and so Skippy makes up a bunch of excuses to his teacher about where she is so he won't be put in an orphanage?

7295569 All we know is that a writer said "Just becous we haven't shown her parents, doesn't mean they aren't there, well they said something like that at one of the Bronycons I can't remember which one, unfortunately, I mean they are bound to show them one day, some peoplo will likely hate it, but its something that they will need to learn to accept. but whatever I can wait however long they take.

It would be great if this was canon, or at least scootaloo being an orphan would be canon.

Well, that was certainly some creative thinking there, Cheerilee. Good job.

That was really cute! Also rather impressive that Cheerilee would essentially decide on the fly to adopt a filly. I love their legalese throughout the whole thing. XD Great job!

this was good
and has that perfect drop off point that allows for future stories but also to just let it stand alone
