Five of the youth of House Path are abruptly whisked away by the enigmatic Doctor Whooves, and they find themselves in a Ponyville that they can scarcely recognize. A tyrant queen rules Equestria, alliances were never forged with Griffonia and the Changeling Hives, and three of the group had never been born! Someone has changed history, and it's up to them to figure out when, how, and who did it, or Equestria will suffer, and the rest of the world along with it.
This is the direct sequel to "The Growing Years" and "A Different Perspective", and I advise reading those stories first.

Everything after 'Conversations' has just gotten increasingly bizarre and tedious to read, as Goldy (bless him) has slowly succumbed to the siren's call of bland recycled adventure tales.
Lots of folk seem to enjoy that but I lack the ability to do so.

Seems like an interesting story to start out with so far. I hope you'll be able to pull off time-travel shenanigans properly, or this could be a terrible sequel. You've always written good stories though, so I'll have faith that you won't get trapped in some odd retconning kinda stuff.

Yes, everyone did suffer, but was it worth even your own absolute annihilation?
Then again, she might have survived. Who knows what power was involved.
So, a fight scene early in the story, and late in the chapter. Fun times.
Also, it has to be really hard for the kids to see their mother fallen so low.
Or it can motivate them to such an extent that we won't be able to even.
This is going to have a lot of twists and turns, isn't it? Back to the adventuring style fics instead of a slice of life!

New paradox created though. there is now two groups of timetravelers and if they succeed what will their past selves do.
Theory: before things are done, there will be enough iterations of the kids running around to win the battle all by themselves. Having restored harmony to the time force, the paradoxical iterations will then travel the time stream, observing and making certain that history happens. Sort of a combination of Terry Pratchett's History Monks and Leo Frankowski.
It's only a theory.
I feel bad for the changelings whom soul were stolen.

All that "wibbley-wobbley-timey-whimey--stuff" is like a plate full of spaghetti noddles ... and the Doctor's method is to shove a high-speed blender into the mass and hope a single, intact timeline comes out of the result
Well, since they can't ID the one who sent the warning, and there's probably no way to block such a message, the only solution guaranteed to work is to use the "cry wolf" tactic against the enemy:
Wait for Free and Chrysalis to start fighting, and as soon as they do, have Pif start broadcasting the same message to Chrysalis over and over all through the fight in such a way that the calls become a useless distraction and she ends up ignoring the enemy's real call when Free's teleport actually happens.

I have left it open in case I think of a one-shot that fits in that time period that doesn't affect the main story, but I don't want to create another separate story for. I'll review this decision later. Please read it before reading Quantum Gallop.
