"The changeling looked at the foal much like a space explorer would look at an alien life form. He resisted the urge to prod it." - Flitter

Foresight has an amazing magical talent; the ability to peek slightly into the future. As far as he knows, he's the only one with such an ability in the whole world.

Well. He sincerely hopes he is. He's a bounty hunter, after all. And a clairvoyant trying to outsmart another clairvoyant... that probably has a lot of potential for spontaneously exploding heads.

This story could be considered to be set in the Equestrian Wasteland from Fallout: Equestria , because it was technically written for the setting... but in the end there isn't anything specific linking it to the FO:E lore. It's more of a western-style thing, really. I just needed a setting where bounty hunters and hitmen were a normal acceptable thing :raritywink:

Oi! Don't comment on a story without commenting on the story, you two :ajbemused:

@Reese:
Eh? No. Colons are hardly ever used in written prose, and definitely not in dialogue. That just looks weird :unsuresweetie:

Ah, erm, sorry on both counts. :twilightblush:
I did enjoy the story, but I was in a hurry at the time and didn't see anything that really stuck out to comment on.

Regarding the second, if you don't want to use a colon, perhaps a comma?

lol. You drive a hard bargain. Generally, as I said, colons aren't used in prose, and especially not in spoken dialogue. They seem more like a non-fiction thing, to me. But one of the many wonderful and valid uses of the semicolon is exactly that; to use in such prose situations where you'd possibly expect a colon. The name sort of implies they're related, y'know :rainbowwild:

7121717
Hm. Well, I'm not familiar with that usage of the semicolon, but it's your story; even if there isn't a preexisting general one (and there might well simply be one I'm not aware of), you can set a usage convention for it if you want. :)

Another great story, though would not say really needed to be FO:E, a very slight AU would have handled bounty hunting

Yeah, I know. It more or less got stuck with it because I have plans (or, ideas at least) for a much larger Fallout: Equestria side story that'd go into the whole clairvoyance thing (it's a very Dune inspired idea), and I built Yellow Road's history on plot elements from that story. How she became blind and got her absolute clairvoyance.

But since going into that in this story would more or less spoil important plot points from that larger story idea I'm working on I eventually decided to just leave that out completely and simply say nothing about her background. So the FO:E tag kind of stuck while I had already mostly disconnected the actual story from it purely because I can't help still somewhat considering it part of that unwritten story's continuity :unsuresweetie:

(in fact, both of these characters were at one point considered as protagonists for that other fic idea. And then this idea came along... using up both characters and landing me back at square one for the other fic :facehoof:)

[edit]

I dunno... maybe I should just leave off the FO:E, just set it as AU, and make a note that it could be considered as set in the FO:E Wastelands, yea. I've been considering changing the overall title anyway; the one I thought up for the chapter ("Chasing the Darkness") actually sounds a lot more interesting :applejackunsure:

7122341
Right, so, I decided to go through with it. It's just AU now. Thanks for the feedback

7124820
And I helped!
Seriously though your work is great and always nice to see it pop up on my feed.

7125066
Hehe. Thanks for the help.

I also edited the cover; it has a nice fractal-ish thingy going on now, showing some sort of abstract representation of infinitely splitting possibilities fading to black

I genuinely expected that the story will end in some kind of confusing paradoxical thing. It's good that you didn't choose that end.

I'll always prefer happy ending over sad one.

I'm a sucker for happy endings, lol.
