that was a good start. personally I would have prefer sunset shimmer to be twilight's rival because of how her character design resembles gary oak but Trixie is fine as well.

Okay the story is finally starting to interest me. Personally I hope that not all battles Twilight engages in will end with her being victorious. It would be interesting for example that she would lose her next encounter against Trixie. In fact making her lose against her rival several times in a row would give a good story about insecurity for Twilight about whether she really has it to become a pokémon master.
I also wonder which evil organisation she and her friends will be up against and whom their leader will be. Because every pokemon game had their evil organisations.

You know what would be hilarious if Trixie also got one and their respected Eevee's will evolve biased on their owners colours. Glaceon for Trixie and Espeon for Twilight.

Trixie is obsessed with being better than Twilight. Therefore, I assume that she thought Twilight would be more focused on the journey, and thus decided to "grind" in order to beat her as badly as she could the next time they met.

I like Trixie team though it's kinda unbalanced since she is using two ghost types. I would recommend she would at least get one strong water type pokémon which are the most common type. Milotic or Gyrados comes to mind. Or perhaps the fossil pokémon Kabutops. If starters are an option then I would actually she her get an Empoleon as her water type and Serperior as her grass type. Both have that powerful vibe or their name sound powerfull. Not mention that both starters can easily mimic that arrogant look of Trixie.
1 tip though don't let Trixie become Paul. Personality wise she's closer to Gary Oak then Paul. At least in the cannon show of MLP. In other words she should care about her own Pokémon.
Well that are my two cents and what my hopes the author will take. As for the story itself. It was actually fast paced. Perhaps too fast paced, what I mean the battles are fun to read. But it would be interesting to have more interaction between Twilight and her friends. I find Rarity and Pinky Pie rather under developed and the later her motives aren't even clear what her life goal is. But overall this was a very enjoyable chapter and I like the overall story so far. So keep on the good work.

Trixie has to be careful in that in winning she could lose by disqualification. Then again, she is likely to use Taunt against Dash for a quick win?

Trixie is boring. She's doesn't seem like the Gary or Paul type of person not even Silver or well any rival. Trixie thinks she's the best when cleary she's not. Plus I'm sure that Haunter can't learn Thunder Punch.
The only reason why they made Boast Busters the way it is, is becausethey wanted Twilight to be better any other day. Any of the main six could take Trixie. You need to have her lose to the champian or a Elite Four, and you need to have more colourful characters, these ones just seems dull and boring.
If you want you can borrow Lucky Dice, who has a no track mind and because of spending his life in a cave for so long as made him crazy to a point where he goes from a sunflower to a cloud in a second. Plus because he doesn't spend anytime with anyone that can make good moments.
I know this sounds like a shameless plug, but it only that if I say the main story he is from. Just giving some ideas on what you could do, I was going to make my own Pokemon story with Rainbow as the rival acting like how she is in the show but just fighting Twilight but friends at the end. Well this is long enough as it is so good luck with the rest of the chapters I sure hope this stoos being boring.
