Dolphy Blue Drake

I used to not watch MLP much, but after reading fics on this site, I had to write my own. Today, I'm a passionate fan with few complete fics, but a firm desire to finish all of my fics.

T

Waking up with almost no memories, a man quickly discovers that he's not human anymore. Lashing out at the first being he sees—A cyan winged equine with a six-colored mane and tail—he demands to be turned back into a human, claiming to be something called a "Venus Adept". When the pony refuses to comply with his demands, he demonstrates powers that no Earth Pony should have, summoning stone to lash out in anger. He remembers little, but he does remember his own name: "Felix".

Will Felix recover his memories so he can return to wherever he came from? Will recovering his memories even be enough to do so? Or is there more to it than that?

Marty Stu protagonist. Thumbs down.

6978944 Dude, he's not a Marty Stu. I didn't make him up. I played the games, and he's far from the most powerful Adept. And what did he possibly do that gave you that FALSE impression? In fact, back home, everyone hates him, even though he's the real hero, all because the residents of his home village have a grudge against him, making him a "hero with bad publicity". He's in a world where no one knows who he is, so it's only natural that they give him a chance. Basically, this isn't him being "marty stu" material, or anything. It's more like throwing him a bone after he's just been kicked around for so long.

6978944 Look, Felix is the "hero with bad publicity" throughout Golden Sun 1 & 2, not to mention he gets no thanks in Dark Dawn. The only reason that hasn't followed him to Equestria is because nopony there knows who the flip he is. So kindly keep that in mind.

You know what lies below us? Below the void? At the base of Gaia Falls? An unstable space that could take you to almost any plane of existence! And if the proper Psynergy were applied to you before you fell into it....” Alex rose back into the air and sneered. “Let’s just say that you might become a lot more inhuman than you claim I am.

Okay, that's a creative way to end up in Equestria. I like that explanation. :pinkiehappy:

6978944 You've never played Golden Sun...GTFO this comments section.

6979879 Should we send him to suffer a Cruel Ruin?

6979923 Nah he doesn't deserve a cool death...let Volchek handle him...(or whoever Sveta's bro was if I got the name wrong)...and when I say handle I mean mawl

6979967 You're right, Cruel Ruin is too epic of a way to have a jerk like him meet his end. Yeah, let's just have Volechek maul him to death. Far less cool looking. He doesn't deserve to go out with a bang.

6978944 Also, it seems your bio text is a total lie: "Giving you the truth, no matter how bad it hurts"? Calling Felix a Marty Stu isn't "the truth", it's a bald-faced lie!

If you played the Golden Sun games, or even just read up on Felix on the Golden Sun wiki, or even just read the TVtropes pages for the Golden Sun series, you'd see that he's no Marty Stu.

With a Marty Stu, everyone who likes the character is good, and everyone who doesn't is an antagonist in one way or another. Felix Is hated by almost all of his home world, even though he's the hero who ultimately saved them from the world crumbling into nothing! Even his (former) friends and neighbors from his home village despise him (with the exception of his family, those who aided him in saving the world, and their families)! He's an outcast, even though he saved everyone's lives! How is that Marty Stu material?

And even here, how do things start off? With yet another entry into the long tale of the misadventures of Felix. Though his name means "lucky" in a foreign language, he's had so many bad things happen to him throughout his life, the only "lucky" thing about him is that he survived them all! So he's once again battered and beaten. Is he a Marty Stu just because they forgave him? In case you forgot, the ponies in FiM tend forgive quite a lot. Is it because of his powers? Hate to break it to you, but the very fact that he's an Adept at all makes it where he has to have those powers. And a non-Adept getting dumped in Equestria would make for a boring Golden Sun crossover. Especially since pretty much every non-Adept (except for a choice few) is a minor character, if not a nameless NPC.

So, before you say what you think is the "truth", how about doing some research, first? Calling Felix a Marty Stu is like claiming the sun is a cold cube that emanates darkness! He's the exact opposite of a Marty Stu!

Dolphy, why? Why do you do this? It hurts me physically. I think Brasta is on the floor having a massive stroke and it's all your fault. Why, Lord, why? Why have you forsaken us?

6980780 He hasn't been talking to me for a while, so how can I get in contact with him for anything if he won't answer me? I'm trying to smooth this out right now, but he won't reply. Now the responsibility's on your shoulders. GET HIM TO TALK TO ME ON SKYPE RIGHT NOW.

Thanks for telling us about the Golden Sun. I was very confuse.

(this is mostly a reply to Hamster_Master(odd name, by the way. Why be the master of something that small and insignificant?))
Just so you know, I'm fairly certain that 1) it's Gary Stu for males, Mary Sue for females, and not Marty Stu, and 2) why would you even think that they're an all around perfect character? Gary (or as you said, Marty) Stu characters are liked by pretty much every other character, and are generally extremely powerful and has a perfect personality. Even if this was an OC and not a character from a game (which I know nothing about) that you could look at to see his character traits, it's shown here that he is far from perfect. He can act irrationally, as shown by him not listening to and just attacking Rainbow Dash. He isn't all powerful, otherwise he would just obliterate things which bothers him. Dolphy said that he was extremely unpopular and disliked back where he came from. Also, he has amnesia. Does a "Gary (or Marty) Stu" character, a character which is written to be perfect in almost every sense of the word, and even some ways it doesn't, have an almost complete lack of memory?

Once all the introductions were over and the yellow one, Fluttershy, stopped trying to hug my djinn, Twilight spoke up.

The imagery of Fluttershy trying to hug Djinn is just too adorable. :rainbowkiss:

I wonder if Felix actually is the "someone else" that Celestia told Karen that she needed to meet...

6982807 That was my intention. As for Felix being the "someone else", you'll just have to wait and see.

Glad to see another person who likes Golden Sun. I've been working on getting my metaphorical pen to metaphorical paper to make my own story.

While I'm not a big fan of direct crossovers, and particularly amnesiac main characters, I'll have to check this out when I've got some more time. I wish you luck

Anyway, this is the very first fic on FiMFiction (that I know of) that's a Golden Sun crossover, but not a displaced story.

By having Felix be a human ripped from Weyard and put into Equestria, isn't that displaced by definition? :rainbowhuh:

Anyway, the story isn't bad. I think it could use a little work in making it a little less blunt, but it's not bad. I wish you luck going forward.

Also, all the GS player characters are the heroes, albeit the first are misguided. Isaac and Garet were ultimately the ones tested by the Wise One to determine if they could handle the responsibility of the return of alchemy, and thus, they became the guardians of Mt. Aleph in Dark Dawn. Felix is undoubtedly a hero with bad publicity, but Isaac and co. are more like heroes who were misled.

6983124 Not really. The Displaced genre involves someone from Earth dressing up as something, then winding up in Equestria as that thing. This is actually more of what is called a "traditional crossover": where two (or more) worlds collide (metaphorically speaking).

6983124 Also, Felix was doing the right thing from the very beginning. It's not until Contigo, after Jupiter Lighthouse, where Issac and his friends realized that they were doing the wrong thing. So the point still stands that, in a way, you were playing as villains in the first game, even though you don't realize it, and you think you're doing the right thing. As I said, had they succeeded even once, Weyard would've died.

And Felix is the real hero because even Issac admitted that it was Felix's quest, and that his party would just do what they could to help out. So, the real leader is Felix, even after Issac joins, meaning Felix really is the one who saved the world, not Issac. It doesn't matter that the Wise One was testing Isaac and Garet to see if they could take care of the world. That's not what the real hero does. The real hero is the one who actually saves the world so it can be taken care of after it's saved. That was all Felix.

6986850 I actually listen to the Golden Sun Remastered songs while I write these chapters!

6987076 Alright, helps with the general theme of the fic. To each their own. (I've played through the three games, btw.)

6987138 Played the first two on an emulator, got the third at gamestop...
Needless to say I know what I'm talking about...

i just found out i have a Golden Sun game. I found it while searching through my stuff, apparently my uncle gave it to me after he was finished with it a couple years ago.

6987183 Cool! Now play it! Become an Adept! You know you want power!

6987178 Ditto. I snagged my copy of Dark Dawn for 12$, pre-owned. Along with Okamiden, for the same price.

6987202 the problem with that is because its the second game and i want to play from the beginning

6987595 Oh... Well, I'm sure you can find the first one in a used game store somewhere (such as Mario's, the used game store chain that has a store in my area). If you can't find it in a used game store, or even pre-owned at Gamestop, there's always Ebay.

6987138 I think you misunderstood what I was saying about the Golden Sun Remastered music. The video you linked to is part of the remastered playlist. I was trying to say that I love the remastered songs to the extent that I use them to help me write the chapters of this fic, meaning that I really like that you linked to one of them (especially one of my top ten favorites).

6989632 I know; I bookmarked said playlist myself. I didn't misunderstand at all; merely stating my two cents on the matter. C:

OK now they sound like a group of females at a mall with an uninitiated credit card.

6992727 Felix is just excited. These kind of things are rare on Weyard. I'm not kidding. Take Apples, for example. Most are found in chests, and there are only two apple trees on the entire planet, each with only a single apple.

6992759 How will they react when they see Sweet Apple Acres?

6992795 You'll see in the next chapter (well, sort of). Suffice it to say that Felix's mind's about to be blown.

and watch that they eat the food and.... nothing happens. :ajbemused: :facehoof:

6993452 Um... Karen wouldn't be talking about such things if she didn't already know what she was talking about. These six kinds of food only affect Adepts in that way. To anyone else, they're just food, but to an Adept, those six effects are a result of their Psynergy reacting to the kind of food it's linked to, triggering a small permanent boost in one of those six categories. Karen's been here for five years. She's obviously tested it at least once.

6993777 I was thinking that that's how food of that type would work in THEIR home world, which is why those are so scarce; it would be dangerous, ridiculously so, even.
Look at it this way: in the Fighting Foodons series, as i remember, there's this one town that used to have several chefs come through and there was such a ruckus caused that there's no more food for fear of there being another disaster like the last.
HOWEVER, what if that power didn't apply to food from an entirely different world? Just a thought, is all.

6993858 I understand where you're coming from, but it's a bit late for that, now. I already wrote this chapter with Karen sounding like she knows exactly what she's talking about, implying that she knows it still works in this world. It's a Psynergy thing. Even back on Weyard, these types of food wouldn't do anything special for a non-Adept, as they have no Psynergy (though with enough help from incredibly-skilled teachers, a non-Adept can learn a tiny bit of Psynergy. But the one person who had managed to learn a smidge of Psynergy that way insisted that he was no Adept, so I don't think they'd work for him. Or maybe they would. But it's a moot point, since he died of old age in the middle of the second game).

6994123 ah, it was just a thought. But it would have been kind of funny if that's what had happened.

6994432 Anticlimactic humor has its place, and to me, this isn't the place for it. At least, not when it comes to the most coveted items in the Golden Sun games besides Artifact equipment.

I always have a lot of trouble in reading your stories, you have an annoying tendency to get the narrator into very long explanations, which sort of kill the mood of the story, that could all be explained via the characters and you have an the irritating habit of glossing over important introduction and encounters with new characters, like with Celestia and Luna. You also have a lot of trouble characterizing your characters personalties making them feel very bland in their reactions most of the time. I hope these comments help a little to understand what I mean.

7001806 I'm working on that, and I'm trying to get help. With time, I should hopefully become a better writer.

Never heard of Golden Sun before.

Is it a series?

Though even without reading/watching Golden Sun I still like it.

7102866 It's a game series, actually. And it's really great. The first two are for the Game Boy Advance (and really push the limits of the system at times), and the third is for the Nintendo DS. There are plans for two more games for a total of five, but at the current time, there's no word on if the fourth game is being produced yet, since the company behind it, Camelot, has a policy of waiting until demand is high enough before working on games. For example, it took seven years of petitions and requests to convince them to make the third game, even though there were hints at a third game in the end of the second one. And the Producer himself mentioned that the plan was for 1 and 2 to be a prequel series to the "main trilogy". Actually, 1 and 2 were supposed to be one game, but they used so much data, they couldn't fit all of the content on one GBA cartridge and were forced to split it into two games.

The first is called Golden Sun (Or Golden Sun: The Broken Seal in Japan), the second is Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and the third is Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. I highly suggest you give them a try. The third game's a bit of a letdown compared to the prequel games, but there's still a lot left for the story that's supposed to be in 4 and 5, which will be released someday. I just have no idea when it'll happen.

DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUN

While saving those two adepts, Discord inadvertently started the war early.
Alex may have left him for a little while longer if Discord hadn't done what he had done. NOT that I'm saying what he did was bad (because it was good), but Alex may have left them alone for a while longer if he did nothing.

7102866
Its a game series from GBA/DS, its an RPG. It's fun.

“Thirty thousand, five hundred twenty five,” I announced, and Karen’s jaw dropped in amazement.

PSSHHH

At the end of my Lost Age playthrough (With a completed GS1 Gold Password, painful to get into the game :applejackunsure:) I had about 372k coins. Money really isn't a problem in GS about half way through the game, amirite? :trollestia:

7478534 Eh, money may be no object, but it does depend on how much you level grind before beating the game. That, and once I found out that the store in Prox sold Mist Potions as a regular item instead of as an artifact, I couldn't resist buying lots of them.

Also, I didn't use a password. I used a link cable so I could even transfer the things that you can't do with a password.
