Hello, Solid Dash.

It's supposed to depress you.

But that being said I do feel I need to find the silver lining. The scars of war do last a long time, but they also DO heal. The ponies control the environment and now that the war is over they can get things back on track. Yes an entire generation had to five up a lot for it's freedom but those who come next now get to have a future.

One fan fic suggested that all the alternate time lines "want" to conform as closely to the "alpha Equestria" time line as possible. I have a feeling that is so in their universes. Destiny and be knocked off track or delayed, but never truly denied. I like to see Equestria destiny as a series of fixed and malleable events, some outcomes have to happen but there isn't just one way to get those outcomes.

Nicely done and well written, I love the mood

sombra is not one that can be sent to the gallows. he is only something that dies in the battlefield.
literally, he is too dangerous to do that. the amount of time spent only gives him time to recover from the injuries

He played them like a damn fiddle!

6889920 Kinda have to agree. Given his level of strenght, I doubt a mere hanging would be enough. Forever chained, forced to live a life of eternal servitude in the darkest pit of Tartarus would've been a much fitting punishment.

I would imagine that Celestia either inhibited his magic, or stripped him of the very thing that made him immortal. In all likelihood she wanted to execute Sombra like a common criminal in order to show the rest of Equestria just how weak he really was. Unfortunately for her, it backfired. Sombra didn't sniffle, or whine, or cry and beg for his life, he just found the entire thing amusing. It was a farce, and he exposed it for the farce it was.

6890195 I'd treat him as a Ganondorf without the Triforce. Still with power to bring the world to its knees, but at the same time a simple man... pony that will die like any other.

6890745 It was only a farce if he lived. Sombra was not some revolutionary, there eas no point to his actions besides his own power. and killed by the noose guarantees everyone sees he was dead.

Frankly Dash's thoughts seem kind of small when not dealing with herself. why couldn't the filly who dreamed of being an artist go back to that once the war is over

6895865
No, it's still a farce. Sombra brought Equestria to it's knees, ruined an entire generation of ponies, and fought Equestria's greatest defender to a stalemate for years. Never again will anypony feel safe in their homes, secure in the knowledge that Celestia will protect them. Never again will the other nations see Equestria as an unassailable superpower. The dream is dead, the Golden Age of Equestira is over, and it's all Sombra's fault. Him being dead doesn't change that one whit.

Because her innocence has been soiled, her dreams aren't the same anymore. When she closes her eyes she doesn't see the world the same way she used to, and affects her art. Now, if you're talking about a filly that was forced to take up manual labor in order to support the war effort, chances are her talents have atrophied. She never got the support, the recognition, the schooling she needed to pursue a career in art, and now she has bills to pay and only one marketable skill.

Not to mention all of those ponies who grew up, fell in love, had a family, and settled down all without ever discovering the thing that made them special. An entire generation has been lost because of Sombra's actions.

6898075 Celestia successfully protected them or else they'd be ruled by Sombra, and that's just not how Cutie Mark work

6898199
Sixteen draws and a win isn't a solid victory. Celestia protecting them would have meant banishing Sombra before he turned Equestria into a war-ravaged hellscape and murdered countless other ponies, and in that sense, she failed.

And as for Cutie Marks, how exactly would you know? Do you have any information beyond just telling me I'm wrong?

6889148 Yes... YES! THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!

6898241 well Fluttershy got her mark in communicating with animals the first time she ever communicated with them, having never seen anything like them before, for one. Pinkie Pie also had no training in party planning or other ways to make ponies smile. I don't think Cheese Sandwich did either.

So since one instance of something totally unfamiliar can trigger the mark, it must be something capable of existing in isolation, without anyone's support or any special training

6898876
And I have to disagree with you there. Rarity didn't become a seamstress overnight, Twilight didn't instantly master magic, etc. Talent will only get you so far, you need training, you need practice, and that takes both time and effort. Beyond that, think about the Cutie Mark Crusaders, they each preformed their special talents multiple times to no avail.

Fluttershy may have started off being able to communicate with animals, but everything else? She learned that on her own. Pinkie Pie... is Pinkie Pie, and I'm pretty sure her "Granny Pie," was like her in a lot of ways. Cheese Sandwich was an excuse to have Weird Al-pony, not that I'm complaining, mind you.

6898912 but the lack of training won't stop the mark from manifesting and once you have it you can get training,

Plus you know, foals would have still gone to school

Sombra caused death and destruction, he may have crippled some ponies, but nothing he could have done could have ruined Equestrian society. As long as he lost of course

I liked this story, soldier Dashie is best dashie! :rainbowwild:
