Cheerilee has mastered quick thinking.

Or has she?

For all we know, in the MLP universe it could be that things work exactly as Cheerilee described.

Then on Nightmare Night she decided it wasn't her true vocation after all

Santa Hooves is a big softy. It is known, khaleesi.

I like how Rainbow Dash seems to inspire so many schoolhouse debates in your stories. She's living proof that truth can be stranger than fiction.

In any case, a lovely holiday story. Thank you for it, Pineta, and Merry Christmas.

And thus began the first Ponyville foal revolution, in which a significant portion of Ponyville's youth suddenly found themselves free of the shackles that were forcing their nice-like behavior since, in the words of their teacher, "Santa ... delivers presents to all children even if they don’t deserve it". The aftermath of this revolution would cement the town's status as the Emo capital of Equestria, a title it held for centuries to come.

That was actually really smart of Cheerilee, but I simply couldn't help myself :applecry:

This is adorable. Nicely done.

¡Wow! For my group, "The Skeptics' Guide To Equestria", I wrote a post about using Santa Hooves for teaching skepticism to foals, just a few days ago:

Using Santa Hooves For Teaching Skepticism To Foals

Well written. A bit abrupt at the end, but it was a nice read.

Being a teacher myself, I've seen a few sticky situations as well, even with teaching adults. Thus, this was a pretty neat little take on things.

As someone else has pointed out, this is a pretty abrupt ending, though. It could have used just one extra sentence or one more scene to cap it off. Still, overall it's a cute and well-written story. Nice work!

Thanks. You're quite right about the ending. It is too abrupt. This was a bit of a rushed job as I had to meet the 24 Dec deadline and fit it around all my own Christmas preparations.

6785355 Ah. I know the feeling. I wrote my own Christmas special side-story for one of my main projects and it was a real push to get it done on time (and for my illustrator to get an image on time!).

But like I said, abruptness aside, I still enjoyed it.

The book Applebloom picked up The Night Before Hearth's Warming I thought it said The Nightmare before Hearth's Warming and I got excited cause I think that sound like it would be a great story to read.

Awww.

Well done Cheerilee.

Nice save.
Also, poor kids get poor presents, and rich kids get cool, expensive presents. Santa Hooves is a bit of a jerk too.

...Aw....So cute. :)

In Equestria, Santa Hooves is real.

Hmmm...the end was a bit of an anti-climax.
