This story is a sequel to Rediscovering Harmony

Starlight Glimmer has returned to the present to find herself a member of the Mane 7. She is now a bearer of an element of harmony, and has a husband—her soulmate, Sunburst. So, what happens the morning after?

Though a sequel to Rediscovering Harmony, it is written so it could be readable standalone; It does contain spoilers for the first story. Artwork (c) by Tambelon at Deviant Art.

I like this. Another Element is a really neat idea. I've always considered Love to be an Element (shared by Cadence and Shining Armor), but Charisma is a good idea too. More, please.

Ugh, another one of these "7th Element" story? Anyone who was around during the first two years of fimfiction will know what I'm talking about...

Other than "Mane 7" being stated in both descriptions such that everybody already knew this, perhaps you wish to critique the story? If so, please read the original story first, Rediscovering Harmony. See if Starlight Glimmer being saddled with an element is not only a very MLP redemption twist and follows from the original structure of season one, but is also ironic punishment for her sins. Then actually read this sequel. Tell me then it's derivative (though admittedly not an original idea—what is?) and I will believe you and just say "Thank you."

6774821 Though the question was rhetorical, I appreciate your answer. You get a star and a bonus star for seizing the moment.

Originality does derive from the random nature of creative thought. In the case of these two tagged as random stories, and Belly Rub especially, I'll give you that it is certainly original in my experience of MLP fanfiction, though stories of a drunk acting uncensored is as old as the Illiad. It proves my point, though.

Whilst Joseph Campbell may assert there is only one narrative and everything else is a variation, there can be originality in the variations themselves, and certainly the details of the author's message. Belly Rub approaches greatness in that it follows from the character of Twilight, and though I'm convinced Twilight would never drink, were she to do so, she would prove so tightly knit that she could just unravel as in the story, and from what we think we know from Celestia, she would do as she did. It extends the characters beyond their boundaries, makes them more accessable, and thus provides us a satisfying story. It is derivative. But who cares? I like it. You like it. That's enough.

My story, or the arc if you better start from the first story, Rediscovering Harmony, going on through the stories in the planning stages, plays on the concept of what if a villain, an unwitting one as I've cast her, suddenly has to deal with taking the place of a hero? Pigeonholing a story as another Mane-7 story, without reading anything other than the description, is like saying, "Ugh, another hero's quest story! Anybody around since the 1949 would know what I mean!"

I suppose I should apologize to Reptilian Member 69 for being insulted, but... no. Reptile's comment has made me think, so it had some merit. He or she only gets a half a star, though.

Can I choose the bonus star that I get? I've had my eye on Sirius for a while now...:rainbowlaugh:

6778084
You get Alpha Centuri A. It's a gold star and the brightest of its color in the sky. If you want something giant instead, you can have Capella.

6778391
But nothing goes with Alpha Centauri A! Besides, I've waited a long time for Sirius! One might even say that I've waited 12 years! :rainbowlaugh:

6778526 ok, ok. But if there are turf wars over it, you get to handle it. (I may regret this, but what happens 12 years ago?)

A neat little sequel that does a good job on expanding the original. (Also I accidentally typed food jobs. XD)

Why would you regret asking?
Anyways...

:facehoof: I asked. I asked. I asked. :derpytongue2:

You're on my list. Of what, I'll figure out at some point....

6779792
You did. You did. You did.
I'm on your list of clever people. That's what I'm on your list of. I figured it out for you, and I am fully aware that that clever was sarcastic! Huzzah! Now I can get a small island named Vulcan (or Vulcano, if you prefer)! Live long and prosper, good sir!

Bad joke : what does Celestia do on Rollerskates ? Fall?

7227083 A good question with a bad answer: It would startle everypony (and they would fall over).:rainbowlaugh:

The slang definition (Urban Dictionary) for the ponified phrase is "Something so alarming, the only way to exclaim that its truely worth looking at it is referring to [a deity]." Brought up as a midwesterner, I learned a lot of colorful language growing up. In my story, The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers, Starlight uses some phrases and stops to think about the impossibility of performing them, and irreverence and irrelevance, in passing.

7245580 Ah, that was one of the reasons I wrote The Enforcer and Her Blackmailers. The cutie map in this story is sending her where she will meet Sunset Shimmer...again. I needed to figure out their relationship first before I could do that story. I do hope to do it one day. I've written SF with characters with "dual" aspects before. They're fun.

7247752 no, but I will put it on my list now. Thank you for suggesting it.

This and the story before reminds me of this:

later...
 So, Starlight: did things go alright with your mission?
Starlight: Yeah, I think so...oh, and sorry about earlier: I don't know what came over me...
:twilightblush: No, don't apologize: after all, you technically haven't seen your childhood friend since Rainbow Dash performed the Sonic Rainboom for the first time...
Starlight: ...wait: do you...?
:facehoof: I don't remember everything regarding our rivalry in a previous life, and Spike, whose very birth was tied into the event you tried to prevent, doesn't recall anything outside of a few bad dreams surrounding some of the alternate futures we saw...but the thing to remember is that you weren't the only pony, or dragon, who was caught up in that time travel loop, at least for the majority of it...
Starlight: Right: I suppose that makes sense...but if that's the case, then I guess I'll say to you now what I should have said the moment I officially finished my trip through time. (sighs) Twilight, I know that you've likely got no reason to associate with me, but I want you to know now...I am so sorry for what I "almost" did to you and your friends: in my selfishness and ignorance, I failed to see what was right in front of me, both literally and figuratively, until it was nearly too late. I don't know if I'm truly worthy of your friendship, but I hope that... (suddenly gets cut off by Twilight enveloping her in a hug; begins to tear up) How can you forgive me so quickly? I'd have thought you'd be furious or disgusted with me...
:twilightblush: (having a few tears herself) Oh, Starlight: I remember enough of the other timeline to know that I was never angry with you: I was sad, because I was afraid that, for all your good intentions, you had truly lost your way...
Starlight: I...I did lose my way...
 ...but you found it again...and you did it all by yourself, both in past and present tense...though I have to say, paradox potential aside, I'm glad that you decided to convince "yourself" to give friendship "another" chance...
Starlight: Wasn't a hard decision to make: I just did what a certain Alicorn Princess might have done in "my" horseshoes...

p.s. yes: this IS to tie this up completely with the last story, and yes, I did take inspiration from Zuko and Iroh's reunion in the series finale of Avatar: the Last Airbender

Between this and the last stories I've read, you've done something I thought no one could ever do...humanize Starlight and make me love her. I always thought she was just a poor man's Sunset, but now you and other Glimmer fans have helped fix that.

I'd say MLP has already set up a good sequel for this. She has to go help Celestia and Luna. It's a job for the old Starlight Glimmer, not the new version, and the element is the element of Empathy redemption and courage.

Aww this is a pretty nice short story and it looks like she's enjoying herself in this alternate timeline even though she felt like she doesn't deserve it after what she did and almost destroying the timeline and everybody life but I guess faith has given her a second chance to make herself a better person this time and I wonder what the cutie map is calling her for I guess that's another story this was a pretty good one keep up the good work
