Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to Friendship is Shining: Discord Days

In the aftermath of Discord's attack on Ponyville, things slowly return to normal. However, there are some things that never seem to change: such as the competitive nature between Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The two friends and rivals come to Shining Armor with a request to help decide which of them is the better athlete. Will the two come to a peaceful -- if disappointing -- answer, or will the rest of Ponyville get caught up in the event?

Meanwhile, new faces are showing up in town, and Twilight Sparkle is put in a situation that could be uncomfortable for her when she finds herself trying to help a rather boastful filly.

Hey there. I have to say, excellent job on this first chapter. The exchange and emotional content is superb. I hope Shiny gets better eventually (he probably will, but it will take a while). Anyway, I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this (but am quite willing to be patient).

Considering what happens to most sentient beings who wind up on the bad side of a nigh-omnipotent chaos god, it could be worse. Still, gotta hope that whatever he has to deal with here, it helps him get through it.

And it's great to see you doing more FiS again, Hopeful. :pinkiehappy:

Glad to see another "Friendship is Shining" installment, I look forward to more.

Dang, that's a heck of a nightmare. Such things are to be expected after tangling with a chaos god, though.

Damn, talk about a nightmare sequence, but then again, when your mind's been f*cked with by an insane nearly all powerful reality warper who happens to be rather mad at you, it's to be expected.

Trixie and Pumpkin Cake becoming rivals for Pipsqueak's affection? That's not going to end well at all. :twilightoops:

Excellent work on the latest chapter. :-D The exchanges, emotional content and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'm definitely going to be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Shining Armor, you have no idea of the powder keg you've just ignited.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. As usual, excellent job on the exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Twily becoming a peer tutor? Interesting.

Excellent job on the exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in this chapter. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Gee, I wonder who she might be called upon to tutor, and if it would lead to awkward hilarity? :trixieshiftright:

Nice little chapter. I'm very intrigued to see how it plays out, and how it might tie in to Shining's side of the story.

Hello there. Excellent job on the next chapter. VERY good job with the exchange, emotional content and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I have my suspicions about Crystal Heart, but I won't spoil them for the other readers (plus, I'll freely admit that I could be wrong about said suspicions). At any rate, I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Wow. Now I have no idea what to expect aside from the hilarity of an oncoming metaphorical cluster***k.

And after some of those interactions, if this wasn't rated "T", I'd be expecting a literal one by the end.

It also left him with a slightly uncomfortable situation when he woke up that morning. One that could have been very embarrassing if Spike or Twilight had come into his room to wake him up.

"Welcome to Golden Oaks Library," Shining said as he entered. "Anything that I can help... you..."
Standing at the door was a white coated earth mare with a long, deep green mane and tail. She was tall and lean, with hints of toned muscle underneath her coat. Her green eyes narrowed as a small smirk tugged at her lips. She stepped forward, those muscles flexing as it drew attention to her shapely flank and the heart shaped emerald cutie mark on it.

"Perhaps you can," the mare purred out as she moved closer. "I'm staying in Ponyville for a few days, and could use something to read before... bed." Her shoulder pressed against the stallion's, stroking along his side with her body. Her flank did the same, sending a thrill through the Shining Armor. Her tail gave a flick, teasing the tip of his nose.
"Do you have any romance novels?" she asked. Her shoulder stroked across Shining's own flank before she pulled away.

"Ruh... Ro... Y... yes ma'am," Shining Armor managed to stutter out. "We have quite a few actually, miss..."

"Crystal Heart," the mare answered with a smile as she looked over her shoulder. "But please, call me Crissy." She gave him a wink.

The act caused Shining Armor to blush. Taking a step back, he turned to keep his gaze from focusing on the feminine backside. With a cough, he tried to collect himself.

"Yes," he managed to say. "Well, as I was saying, we have quite a few romance novels. I can show the section with them if you'll just follow me."

"With pleasure," Crystal Heart said as Shining Armor started walking through the library.

Shining now found himself very much aware of his own backside, and the possibility of it being thoroughly watched by a rather flirtatious and attractive mare.

"I don't suppose you happen to know the content of the novels, do you?" Crystal Heart asked.
"Sorry, no," Shining answered.

"A shame," Crystal sighed out. "My favorites are the one where a young stallion in the guard falls in love with the young princess. Although... if there was one about a handsome librarian who finds himself infatuated with a mysterious new mare in town, I wouldn't mind giving it a... peruse."

Something about the way she had said that last word sent a thrill through Shining Armor.

You had me at "You take that back!":twilightangry2: But the rest of it was very nice, too. Trixie wants Pipsqueak to buckle her swash, eh? Didn't see that coming, and I'll wager five bits that any insinuations of it will be met with the most tsundere of reactions.

6885260 I think you're suspicions are correct. It's freaking Chrysalis, there is no way it's not chrysalis.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. Again, excellent job on the exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places: And here's a possible answer Twiley can give Trixie about the importance of history. Namely, It can help her learn from the mistakes of other magicians from the past (i.e. she could attempt a similar trick to one a great magician tried, but failed, to do in the past, but in a way that shows she's MUCH better prepared).

Anyway, I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

6901525 I was thinking about something close to that, although not with previous stage magicians. Imagine that Trixie learns about something that happened in history, such as Starswirl the Bearded facing the Sirens or the battle against King Sombra. Inspired by these stories, Trixie decides to create a stage illusion that references these events, and maybe even telling the story to her audience in the process.

6901557 Yeah. Thanks for the answer back. And, yeah, that definitely makes sense.

Trixie and Pipsqueak both being tutored by Twilight? Things are going to get interesting. :trixieshiftleft:

Hey there. Excellent job on this latest chapter. The exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. Good use of Sonata too. I wonder what she's up to, but I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

That gem definitely has some sort of "mysterious" power to it. I wonder what sort of goal Sonata has for using such a thing.

Nice chapter, but there's a minor thing you may want to edit.

Plus, she singles, and said she likes the smart bookish types.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be, "she's single".

Discord really f:applecry:ed them up, didn't he? :twilightoops:

6917515 Well he did mess with all their heads, playing on their fears and doubts to drive them apart and change their personalities. And in the case of Shining Armor, he did not even need to use his powers directly to do it.

Wait. So, in this 'verse, Moondancer is also Twilight's age? :rainbowderp:

I can already tell that the Amending Fences story is going to be an interesting one

There's a new pony in town named Sonata Dusk

Sonata?! Here?! Now?! :pinkiehappy:

"Crystal Heart," the mare answered with a smile as she looked over her shoulder. "But please, call me Crissy." She gave him a wink.

Well, that's not suspicious at all! :trixieshiftright:

6917525 Yup. That just about sums it up

Anyway, I'm looking forwards to seeing how this goes, especially with the two new mystery mares :rainbowkiss:

Applejack: 1, Rainbow Dash: 0. But I doubt it'll stay that way for long.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. As usual, excellent job on the exchanges, emotional content, action, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

I wonder if Shining took Rainbow's wings into consideration. It would be an interesting detour from canon.

Cudos to Granny Smith for seeing the writing on the wall. She knows her own granddaughter far too well.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. As usual, great job on the exchanges, emotional content, action, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Ooh, Marble Pie triggered Shiny :pinkiegasp:

I can't help but want to see Shiny and Mac get into a fight over her :rainbowlaugh:

"Don't be silly," Granny said as she held up the ticket. "I betted the two of you were both too plum stubborn to lose."

I love Granny Smith.

6948833 I'm thinking it's Maude actually.

6950179 it says that she looked like Pinkie, but flat-maned and gray. I think Marble fits the description better.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. As usual, very good job on the exchanges, emotional content, humor and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

It's amazing how Pound Cake can save his sister from looking like a total idiot, then turn around and say just the right thing to make her angry.

Awesome! Looking forward for more! :pinkiehappy:

6956021 Well they are siblings, twins in fact, so they have known each other their entire lives. Plus, by having her irritation focused on him, she's not exactly able to brood.

I wonder if Crystal Heart and Sonata Dusk are going to end up fighting each other for Shining Armor's affection? :trixieshiftright:

Oh boy ... we have a potential pileup over here ... a Siren who's almost certainly up to no good, a Changeling Queen who's out to feed on Shiny's loving, for potentially nefarious purposes, Celestia showing up to observe, all on top of RD and AJ having a competitive streak.

Hey there. Thanks greatly for getting the next chapter up. I really appreciate you going to the effort. As usual, very good job on the exchanges, emotional content and future chapter set-up in all the right places. And, Rainbow, no offense, but even WITH your wings, you're still NOT the fastest pony in Ponyville - Pinkie Pie is (Pinkie has been PROVEN to be faster on land than Rainbow is in the sky). Which makes it a good thing Pinkie is only doing commentating on the race.

And, yeah, Twiley finishing ahead of Rainbow and AJ (though probably second-to-last rather than fifth because she IS a filly in this universe, after all) would probably be more embarrassing for them here than it was in canon (after all, it would be more embarrassing for an adult athlete to lose a race to a non-athletic kid than to lose to a non-athletic adult).

At any rate, I will definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

6966120 Well, hopefully they won't actually PHYSICALLY fight (they might, but I hope they don't). Still, they might get into an argument/semi-friendly competition (and hopefully, it won't go PAST that).

Nice chapter, but there's a couple minor things you may want to edit.

"Let's all keep calm here. Don't want to say anything to boastful or over the top, do we?"

That should be "too".

"Well something new is always excited,"

And I'm pretty sure that should be "exciting".

I can see that the manure and the fan are looking at each other with great curiosity

It's offical, you do NOT mess with Pumpkin Cake. :pinkiegasp:
