I quickly want to say that I was surprised Ariamaki that you decided to make this a whole new story. Given it is completely derailed from the source material, I would have placed money it wasn't going to be completely separated off. (This just means linking it as an A/N once or twice to give future readers the chance to know of it's existence.)

Well this was definitely a solid set up. Brought Vinyl into a different and good light. I never saw Vinyal as the engineering type, now I can ^^. Can't wait to see more. Also I like how Octavia had the bad premonition. She's a gypsy, like Pinkie!!!!!

Oh, this is going to be an epic collaboration.  I like the back story you're setting up for Vinyl and Octavia, not to mention we're getting a little bigger glimpse into the lives of Nickel and Matte.  It sounds like Octavia is taking a seriously thankless position with her tutoring job, it didn't sound like she and Vinyl were short enough on bits to need her taking that position, so I'm guessing that she does it for the chance to discover the next great talents in the youngsters.  (That's a rough patch to hoe, though I guess if she finds even one new talent in the group, she'd consider all the time well spent.)  

Please, continue, this is developing into a very interesting side line to the whole Four of Two story.

They're a new thing, and pretty much entirely unknown outside of colleges and some major government places like Canterlot. Far too new for games to be a common thing. However, I had actually meant to change the name of her major slightly, so kudos to you, and I'mma go fix that.

TADA, now it is a bit more clear-- Her degree was technically in Electrical Engineering, of which the brand-new CompSci was a sub-department. That had always been the case, but I forgot to write it before the rather hectic publishing time.
