First off, poor Nyx ... let's hope the nightmares aren't symbollic of anything down the line, and lets hope that the real reason about Nightmare Night can stay a little secret a little longer till at least after it.

Third: Why oh why can I see bad things on the horizon with the guards, nightmare night, and mommy sparkle? Just getting that tingle in the back of my knee that means that something possibly bad is going to happen...

It's good.  A couple of items struck me as odd.

The changeling attack was before Nyx's time?  That would place all the events of Past Sins after season 2, which is not something I would have thought about doing.  Putting it after season 1 would seem natural, but then everything in season 2 has to take place in an alternate universe...

Why does Pipsqueak still speak in british-isms?  I assumed he talked that way in Luna Eclipsed because he was role-playing his pirate costume.

Luna taking over Queen Nyx's abandoned castle is a clever idea.  Although, I imagine it would take a lot of work to shore the thing up, since it was constructed so hastily (and probably held together with spells) in the first place.

Funny, I read the guards' lines in Grif and Simmons's voices.

The insane sides of the main six, are actually what I would date them for. Those guards don't know what they miss, hiding scared in a closet while your beloved seeks you to "bake" cupcakes "with" her . Fancy role plays , hours of pain and torture , always getting demands that you can't fulfill more, because you do them already on the maximum . So romantic!!!

Well I certainly enjoyed it! I wasn't expecting Twilight to start dating though! However, I've enjoyed it. I enjoyed the scene with the two watchers getting applies in da face! And of course I've really enjoyed the relationship between Nyx and Twi. I've found their relationship to be very "d'waa" Keep up the good work!

Do you think that this is a case of Fridge Logic, that the producers intend to deal with the issue in upcoming seasons, or if it will just be handwaved as "ye olde time monarchy" with a very benevolent dictator, albeit with a large, bumbling aristocracy?

Why do I feel as though Pomp and Circumstance are going to find that gaining forgiveness for completely going against orders is going to be several times harder than gaining permission in the first place?  Also, Luna has it right and I think she said it better than Celestia ever could (though Celestia probably has the same feelings based upon both cannon and fannon portrayals of her).  This story just keeps getting better and better so keep up the good work!

And still, yet again, they're the bearers of the elements. They should de facto BE nobility, yet they are constantly treated like nobodies whenever Luna or Celestia aren't standing right there.

Cadence--- or rather Chrysalis disguised as Cadence--- Twilight spotted her aberrant behavior almost immediately. You have to figure Chrysalis spent days or even weeks disguised as Cadence, and her behavior even in the short time for the wedding preparations was abrasive enough that ponies noticed.

The garden party, I wasn't speaking of their "crashing" the party, but rather that Rarity, despite being an Element bearer, despite being a guest of Celestia herself, despite having helped save all of Equestria twice by that point, (and being a classy broad in her own right), felt she had to lie and truth-stretch to protect herself from the scorn of Fancy Pants' hangers-on.

And shall we mention Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon?

TL;DR--- every time we've seen royalty or the upper class, other than Fancy Pants and the Princesses themselves, they've been utterly appalling snobs.

And not to mention the fact that the "lower classes", as represented by Applejack and Rainbow Dash, seem almost openly hostile to anything "upper crusty" or "frou frou"......

On the flipside: old money is old power. I suspect that Equestria is similar to modern England, with a few variations--- in that the nobility and royalty are largely honorary titles with small holdings left over from earlier times, and the government is largely parliamentary. In fact my guess is that Celestia and Luna govern largely by press of inevitability--- their sheer personal power means that ponies defer to them, whether the princesses want to rule or not. Pomp and Circumstance were hired to help Luna get a handle on the politics of the modern Court, and help her keep from making tremendous blunders that would cost the Princesses the (symbolic, but still important) support of the various nobility.

in other words, they're just doing their jobs.

As to Rarity being a gold digger--- perhaps a small bit. Or perhaps she saw a swag stud, found out he was a prince (handsome, suave, royalty, every little filly's dream come true) and went for it? Hardly fair to call her a gold digger, seeing as any mare would have been seen as "gold digging" if they so much as gave him the time of day.

I foresee P&C being fired... from a cannon into the Everfree... specifically into the Green Dragon's cave.

I also predict whatever they do will send Nyx into a BSOD, earning them a smackdown from a Rapidash-Butterfree hybrid.
