Well i do like this idea of Countess Coloratura being a Siren, it does make sense that there would be more then three in existence, heck i would not be surprised if they had there own undersea nation, though i doubt they have good relations to the other tribes if they are not thought of as Ponies.

your depiction of Rara as a siren is intriguing, it makes wonder if her species really feed off only of negative emotions or if the Dazzlings were the exception. Who know, maybe she absorb energy from the happiness and love of her fans, like a Changeling, only without ill effects.

Lovely, I liked how well you've got twilight down, it feels true to form. Also, I think you covered Twilight's self discussion fittingly, it didn't feel rushed or drag on as I was reading it.

I'm embarrassed to say it took me a very long time to realize the siren angle. First, I assumed Coloratura was somehow Twilight's mom in disguise (same mane color). Then, I thought alicorn. (Also have big flowy manes, Twilight mentioned 'three.') Then I figured Changeling. Silly me.

Well now, that's going to be a bit of a problem. A large part of whether I like this story or not depends on what happened to him. If it's the sort of suffering the loudest readers call for in these situation, it would be difficult.
When I first saw Rara I thought, "Is that Sonata?"
I won't be surprised if the idea that she's a siren becomes headcanon.

Throwing in my agreement to the pot, stirring it with my anticipation.
Well if the Banished Sirens feed by inducing negative emotions.. Rara could be a Siren who feeds by inducing positive emotions. And feeding on positive emotion it would naturally reflect in personality. The Siren's feeding method seems distinctly different from Changelings, changeling seem to drain energy along with love, sirens seem to feed on the emotion itself, constantly being exposed to cheerful confident ponies would give Siren Rara both the energy she needs to survive and make her feel the same way. Making ponies feel good would literally be her lifeblood. Though I think it might make most sense if Rara was a Pony Siren Hybrid, explaining why she was raised as a pony, the parent who raised her was an earth pony the other a siren with sirens being a tribe of sea pony.
Well, now that I look at her...
Seriously though, this was kind of sweet. Twilight gets to be sort of right, and at the same time we get an aversion of Always Chaotic Evil. Honestly, this is perfect as is.

Oh wow. It took me until the part where Twilight was spying on Coloratura and Applejack's argument to figure out where you were going with this. And then my playlist immediately started playing a song about the sirens just to rub it in my face. xD
Anyway, this was really cool idea, with a great execution. Following Twilight around in the background of the episode while she sorted her thoughts was very effective, and following this idea makes Coloratura an even more intriguing character.

So I assume Twilight did something to prevent Svengallop from telling anyone? We won't ever know for sure unless the author decides to continue. But can you really blame him? Equestria doesn't have the best tract record for dealing with "Monsters", I'm sure the majority of ponies would be do the same.

6662365 I'm betting that her cutie mark isn't a real mark; it's an amulet that turns her into a pony so she can interact with ponies in a friendly way. Also, sometimes her music magic leaks into it, which is why it shines when she sings

As so many others have already pointed out, it hangs together quite nicely once the author drew attention to the similarities between Coloratura and the Dazzlings. The big, multihued mane/hair, the singing, even the name's musical basis, it all fits.

What an absolutely unique and intriguing idea--Counetess Coloratura as a siren!
Perhaps all sirens aren't evil. Maybe Rara derives her sustenance from happiness. Of course, this would leave her without any use for her hypnotic powers other than perhaps to allow ponies to experience euphoria.
Will Rara be able to reveal herself and teach Equestria that not all sirens are evil or dangerous? Hey, people do that with every other kind of creature!
I am most intrigued. I hope you choose to continue this at some future time.
