A brony living in the states that really likes Fallout.

Oh look! Another escapade involving the Cutie Mark Crusaders and a recipe for disaster. In this edition, the filly-three approach their local blacksmith, who has a rather peculiar way of working her craft.
Will this mare help them get closer to their cutie marks, or will it simply be another example of the status quo at work?
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine!

Another tag would be the background character Mjölna. Poor mare doesn't even have a character tag. :fluttercry:

Wow, nothing blew up or caught fire initially? I clearly missed something along the way.

I'm glad at least 2/3 of the CMC seem to have a survivial sense that works sometimes. I also like Mjölna, great history for a background pony!!!!

Electricity being conducted through metal does make it hot, but it would take a lot of electricity to heat to the point that a chunk of it could be forge and, well, she'll be needing those rubber gloves.

Anyway, nice story!

So now, the CutieMarkCrusaders exist in your universe too.

TwitterMites are real creatures in your universe.

¡Never leave the CMC alone with anything dangerous!

A crossover with MarvelThor.

This story needs a sequel.

6478438 Or a prequel. CMC on the moon! :pinkiehappy: (lol, the cmc, in space!)

6478447 True. I await both sequel and prequel with eager anticipation.

She then waved a hood dismissively

Really tiny error I spotted, should be 'hoof' not 'hood'

Nice little one shot story.

There's also the issue of the surface of iron heated in burning wood, charcoal, or coke becoming infused with minute amounts of the carbon released by combustion, which is then hammered deeper into the surface by forging. In the hands of an expert, this is an important component of black smithing. So while an electric forging table would certainly have its uses (welding!), one would still need a "traditional" forge because of this.

Not to mention the difficulties controlling the temperature! In a fire, you can heat a piece of metal to a more or less uniform temperature, if you leave it there long enough. With electricity, the distribution of current (and thus heat) will depend on the shape of the object, which points of contact you use, and whether the current alternates or fluctuates (if it's all AC, you're looking at problems with skin effects). Some parts will (almost) always get hotter than others. Which might be what you're after, sometimes, but...

Cute, so who is pony Loki or his offspring?

It sounds a little like some variation on arc welding, but the intense light that creates can blind eyes and burn exposed skin...
While Mjölna is wearing a welding hood/mask and protective clothing, the CMC aren't. Could she maybe warn them to look away for a little while?
