My problem was that they took out alot of the variability in character customization that was present in d2 and d, scaled down the difficulty considerably, and didn't innovate on any more peculiar mechanics like they did in the shift from d to d2. This was basically d2, cutting out character customizations, with less hero choices, and scaled down difficulty. Which, honestly, made me hate it more than I should.
From the sound of it, Cain is near Appleloosa and encountered Braeburn.

If it takes more than 30 hours of game play to make me even vaguely interested in a game, i think it's the higher point of valor for me to just not waste my life on it. I stuck on it for three depressed days until I'd nearly finished nightmare, and realized I've only started using potions in the second act in nightmare mode.

667741 I had actually written that when my brain was turned off, and as I read back through it during editing it caught up to me.
There are no words to describe how I felt.
I can imagine that Deckard and Twilight's meeting will be like two drops of water merging. They'd probably spend hours on hours sharing knowledge and conversing while scribbling down notes of one another.
"It was empty. Nopony seemed to want to go to the library." That will soon be changed. Deckard will probably spend his sweet time with all the books in the library, knowing his facination with knowledge.

This is an awesome story. I've always had a soft spot for Deckard Cain. I certainly did sit awhile and listen.
To be fair, they can't really know he's got magical powers. They might think he does because he looks so strange (and he told Braeburn he does) but its for the wrong reasons.
Still, pretty freaky for them, yeah. Still, woohoo Twilight and Spike. Can't wait for more.
Just a heads-up; the next update will be two chapters, probably. I just need to restart my writing schedule to adjust for my new job, so ya'll get a double update.
(Also, don't expect Zecora to ever come back. I don't like writing in rhymes.)
Nice chapter. Hope that Deckard will be arriving in Ponyville and reunited with his staff soon. I'd really love to see some "egghead" conversations between him and Twilight
