The only thing that I know about terraria is that is somehow similar to minecraft except that is in 2D

Only its much more combat focused. Think Metroidvania with crafting, grinding and semi optional building and you got the gist of Terraria

Oh boy. Haven't even read the first chapter and already I like the main character (mostly because I also play a tank/melee char on Terraria.) Of course, during expert mode I have to supplement my own attacks with the sentry style summons, but meh. Then again, I like to keep some movement style accessories on me as well, all warding of course, but maybe I just don't have the defense to go toe-to-toe with pillars. Freaking nebula pillar is infuriating.
Anyway, going to read now.

You said you play a tank? What kind of tank? Super armored up, or just full damage? I found a way to combine the two (Thank you youtube) to make it so I could take on ANY boss. That includes Moon Lord. I've had it set up where I take him down in less than five minutes. I'm serious. Hell, I don't even believe it, but the timer doesn't lie.

(one second, going to check my expert mode loadout)
have an Ankh shield, Celestial Shell, Worm Scarf, Regeneration Band, Star Veil, and Solar Wings (can't do much without my movement stuffs). Of course, that's the current loadout for dealing with pillars. Any other boss (besides Duke Fishron, freaking annoying fish) I can usually deal with having the scarf, shell, and shield along with my other two movement accessories, Frostspark Boots and Bundle of Balloons (only three, need to get a fart in a balloon to complete the set). As for the moon lord on expert...I had to make an invincibility machine and keep a shiny stone on me so I could survive, plus using Solar Eruption to whittle down his health. Of course, I now have adopted Expert mode as the only way to play now, so I just adapted to using cheese tactics I guess.
If I play normal, yeah, celestial event doesn't even make me sweat. I even summoned the moon lord to a normal world so I could get the full experience of beating him without cheese.

Yeah, Moon Lord on Expert mode? I set up a heal machine. A basic arena, if you will. Hell, I even adapted it so that I couldn't get hit by his freaking laser. Meanwhile, for movement, I use the UFO car thing. Other than that, I just take on every single boss without the heal machine. Instead, I use a few potions. I can literally take on all the mechanical bosses at once, no problem. My set is pretty OP.
Meanwhile, I've tried to take on Plantera while she's in rage mode, but I can never manage to get her out before she either rams me to death at high speed, whittles down my health to nothing (Normally happens when I find her bulb down really far), or I kill her (This is VERY hard to do, considering the set involves Star Wraith and Meowmere).

Let's just say that, if she were a woman, she and I would not get along well. On my third or fourth attempt, I finally beat her with a combination of the aforementioned items. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the importance of defense in expert mode, so I still had everything set up to menacing. I had my worm scarf, ankh shield, regen band, paladin shield, cross necklace and a hoverboard to get around the natural arena. I didn't have celestial armor at the time, only turtle I think, so that probably made the fight a lot harder. Plus, I had a campfire and heart lantern set up close by and I had a stroke of luck with the jungle arena. Pretty much it had a tiny piece of land in the center of a big cavern, so I could circle around and keep her away from me. Just have to make sure that her hooks aren't too close. Oh, and me being a doofus, I was using a legendary scourge of the corrupter instead of a better weapon (I carried over a hardmode character from before expert mode).
On a side note, I actually had to use a natural water arena to beat the expert mode mech bosses. Celestial shell saved my hide on that one, since I dumped all of my movement accessories for the defense giving ones. And I had heart lanterns and a campfire set up for it. Ugh, the destroyer was a nightmare.
EDIT: I have yet to include infinite flying properly into my strategies, since I only recently beat Fishron. Even with an invincibility machine, THAT FREAKING FISH STILL KILLED ME.

Dude, try my set up. My mount gives infinite flight (Again, I use the UFO Car thing) and my stuff is completely set for defense. Or you could do option 2: Set up a rail that crosses the entire world (I actually almost beat him with this, he actually ran away since I got so far inland).
