I really didn't. Typically "Twilight adopts a new child, becomes a great family" is mutually exclusive to "Spike/someone else comes to believe Spike's treated like an assistant first, and a friend and family member as an afterthought."
Usually it just puts Spike aside and focuses on the new child, while Spike takes on a role that, like in canon, is hard to define.
Yikes.
