A whole year has passed since the day I found Twilight. Twilight has been getting smarter and started reading more and more books every day. She’s already using full clear sentences. Over the past year, I have taken up home schooling so that I could spend more time with Twilight. My family took some time to adjust to the idea of a purple unicorn being my daughter, but in time they accepted it. Soon Twilight even started to pick up spells. Nothing major; just simple magic, like levitation. Even though it was only levitation… it was still impressive for a Filly her age learning it, and learning it without an actual spell book!

A week later I kept thinking to myself… She’s never had a birthday party yet… I didn’t know her exact birthday, so I just went with the day I first found little Twilight. I asked mom to go do some shopping for me while I watched Twilight at home. Then after a while, Twilight and I went to the park to play while my family was getting the surprise party ready for Twilight. I made sure to keep Twilight safe, not letting her get hurt again. I was so excited for her party. I just know she’s going to love it. It was getting late so we started to head home. And when we came through the door at home… “SURPRISE!!!” the family shouted as they jumped from their hiding spots. Twilight shrieked and then laughed as soon as she realized what was going on. “Happy birthday Twilight.” I said hugging her. “You did all this for me…?” she asked. “Of course it was all for you!” I said still hugging her. Twilight started to cry… but… she was happy. “You’re the best, dad… I love you.” She said to me. At that moment, I was so full of joy when she said that… not calling me dad… but saying those 3 words… “I love you…” “I love you too, Twilight…” I say smiling with tears rolling down my face. The party lasted for about 3 hours, and to be honest I danced like Pinkie Pie at one point. Pinkie Pie and her parties… hopefully I won’t end up like that. Twilight got some new toys as presents and some new clothes. She was happy with all of them.

When the party was over, my brother left since he’s already married and it wouldn’t make sense if he still lived with his mother. I haven’t seen my oldest brother in over a year… he’s been too busy with his job. My oldest brother has 2 kids… a 10 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. His daughter is… a major MLP FIM fan… so thank god she hasn’t seen Twilight yet… Unfortunately, my oldest brother is coming to visit tomorrow. But I’m not thinking about that right now, I was thinking about my daughter’s birthday. At night we decided to shoot fireworks to celebrate the occasion. But after the fireworks went off in the sky… something unexpected happened… All of a sudden there was an enormous surge of magic energy coming from Twilight just like the time when she was trying to pass the entrance exam for Princess Celestia’s School for the gifted. Except the princess wasn’t here this time to calm her down. I tried walking up to her without getting hit by the surge. I finally got to her and when she saw me, I was able to calm her down. “D-daddy I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened to me…!” She said about to cry. “It’s okay Twilight…” I said holding her tightly. “It’s not your fault… you didn’t have control…” Then when I looked down… I saw it… On Twilight’s Flank was her cutie mark. Twilight was confused, and at the same time scared when she saw it. But I explained what it meant and she got a basic idea of it. In fact, after I told her, she was really excited about it.

The next day, Twilight was determined to learn all she could about magic. So I went online to find spells that were actually from the show. Day and night she would study until she was tired. She wouldn’t quit until she understood everything she could about magic. I even let her test some spells on me from time to time. Like with one of her spells, she changed my hoodie and Jeans into a fancy suit. She also cast a spell that gave me a mustache goatee combo. She was getting really good at her magic... Then… my niece met Twilight…

When the doorbell rang, I already knew it was my older brother and his daughter… I open the door. “Hey guys!” I say to them pretending to care. “What’s up brat?” looking at my niece. “I’m not a brat!” she protests. “Anyways, look!” she holds up a Twilight Sparkle Plush which brought my mind into terror. If Twilight sees that, she’ll know something’s up! “Put that away!!” I screamed at my niece. She got scared and put the plush away. She never saw Twilight in person, so she didn’t know. Then a voice from the other room… “Dad? Why did you yell?” Twilight walked in confused and my niece’s mouth was agape and wide-eyed. She looked like she was about to scream. “C-calm down!” I said to my niece. But then my niece completely lost it… “Oh my gosh Oh my gosh Oh my gosh Oh my gosh!!!!” she said hopping around. Twilight looked at her, creeped out. I took my niece to the other room and explained everything to her. When my niece came back, she was calm. “I’m sorry for the way I acted, Twilight… It’s just that I’ve never seen a unicorn before.” My niece said apologetically. “It’s okay!” Twilight said easily forgiving her. After today, pretty much everyone in the family knew about Twilight, so I saw no reason to hide her anymore. Besides, I want Twilight to live her life the way she wants when she’s older.
