Shadow Wing has had a rough life. From growing up in less then adequate conditions and fighting just to survive. Shadow has kept his past shrouded in mystery from those who he holds most dear. But now, in order to ensure a better future for himself and his friends, Shadow must open up about his past to show his friends that he that he is exactly that. A friend.

Shadow (mainly referred to as Specter for reasons explained in the story) is my OC and the main character.

Other characters include: Crescent Blade and Ruby Wing created by Nocturnis Comics. And Vanessa Venom Created by Voltsthevoltvolts
Though these characters will not be featured throughout the story. Just the beginning and the end.

Rated Teen for violence and language.

Eesh. I browsed your other stories, in which the use of OC's seems to be a theme, and they don't look all that terrible. Hell, I really like the idea of "Facing the Inferno" since it sounds like the OC in it has relatable flaws and some level of depth.

You kind of dropped the ball here. This is exactly the kind of story, exactly the kind of OC, that authors with no idea what they're doing crank out as their first attempt at writing and get critically savaged for. The generic tragic backstory, the arbitrary mystery surrounding said backstory... hell, even the OC's NAME. It's edge for the sake of edge, angst without substance. And it's the exact same story that hundreds by now have tried to pass off as writing.

And it's a shame, because you give me the impression that you can do so much better.

6270835 maybe i'm just not great at making OC's. The characters in "Facing the Inferno" aren't mine. I wrote that story for a contest about a bunch of next gen OC's made by someone else. I'm still new to this and most of my stories aren't finished so I still have a long way to go. Also Shadow was a character I made for a different story and I felt like the dark back back story would held to immerse him into that world a little better. To help him relate to some of the other characters a little better.

Also I'm writing this story specifically for a contest. If that contst didn't exsist niether would this story. I'm just trying to write different things to see what I'm good at and what I'm bad at.

I really appreciate you giving this a look and I know I still have a ways to go and that I have plenty of room to improve. I hope to keep working at my stories to make them better.

Ah so you're one of the other writers in Vengeful Guardian? Interesting. To meet another writer in that story.

So far so good. This story is a standard built for the "Tragic Anti-Hero" upbringing. While done before by generally every hero in Comic History, the process is filled with a fair share of Original perks.

6271538 ya he is a bit cliché. I've still got a ways to go but I'm happy that someone seems to enjoy the story.

It's a good start to the "Bad Upbringing -> Black Ops Work -> Anti-Hero/Vigilante" build. Even the hero I contriputed to Nocturnis's Vengeful Guardian was a "Civilian -> Chemical Accident -> Turned Insane" build.

6271572 i like it so far but this highlights the problems of The character and your writing its overly melodramatic and spectre comes off has a whiner who tries to hard to get pity but again its your character your design... but you do understand at one point i well write in Crescent slapping spectre and telling him to cheer the hell up

6272131 oh ya. That's the whole demeanor of spectre. He's faced so much hardship that his first response is to get passed and try fix it and when it doesn't work he takes it really hard. So at some point someone has to slap him in the face and telling to suck it up.
