Telekinesis and pyrokinesis are both nice things to get out of a deal, no doubt about it. Due to some fine print finagling, though, we're now stuck here in Equestria, courtesy of 'the Merchant'. And by 'we' I mean Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat, or at least their lookalikes. No, I did not stutter. That sidewalk swindler of a 'wish granter' must think he's got a sense of humor, turning us both into characters right out of our favorite video games and then throwing us straight into the land of LITERAL sunshine and rainbows. We can't count on him to get us back, but since I can now bend spoons with my mind, that must mean the Emeralds should have the power to help us out... Right?
Well, there’s only one way to find out. If only the Royal Sisters weren't making this so much harder... Seriously, a thousand years in ice and they still can't forgive us for accidentally leveling their castle and afterwards causing a worldwide disaster? No biggie. That place was in dire need of renovation anyway; no plumbing, no fridge...
So, to put it short, I have Royal Guards after me (standard bit characters; useless), Mane 6 after me (tougher, like Agents from the Matrix out of a bag of skittles), Royal Sisters after me (more RAGEQUIT than Legend of Zelda’s water temple), and a sophisticated, irritable anti-pegasister loner turned Royal Cat with a fondness of slapping me in the face whenever I say something stupid (which means quite often).
Knowing my luck, next there'll be mind-boggling time-travel and epic boss fights with tons of QTE's along the way, all wrapped up in some big multiverse-evil-domination plot, with ground zero centered on this glorified gumball machine of a world that defies all logic. We've got our work cut out for us, especially since we seem to be the ones cast as the antagonists straight out of the ice. That didn't stop Sonic before, though, and it definitely didn't stop Shadow, and since I'm now the coolest (and only) hedgehog on the block, there's no way I'm letting it stop me!
Here we come, Equestria! You better have some brakes, because we sure don't!

I chosed my favorite characters as heroes. Blaze will be a lot like an original version from Sonic Rush, except more aggressive. Silver is going to be silly and reckless (his powers are modeled after those from Sonic Generations, so yeah, he is much more powerful than in Sonic 2006). Picture made be I, me and myself, but only after entire day of looking for good poses in Google and comibining them in Inkscape - I'm terrible at graphics.

1. Silver and Blaze aren't real villains nor are they seen as ones just because of some accident. Yes, there was some... catastrophe involved... but overall this duo just doesn't care much for Equestria. Which is caused by point 2.
2. They just want to punch the Merchant. Hard. In the face. Nothing else matters much for them.

Maybe later on you could have ancient painting of Equestria's founders uncovered and have Blaze and Silver in the painting with them. The Princesses and the Mane Six would probably have some interesting reactions to that.

Since it sound's like you're going have them hunting for the Emeralds. Why not have one or some them hidden in ancient temples. You could use this as way for them to meet Daring Do and Ahuizotl.
One of my favorite parts of stories like the Displaced stories, is seeing what kind of relationship the character or character's in this case have with MLP character we know and love. Seeing who become's friend and who becomes foe. Whether the MLP character in question is a villain like Discord and Chrysalis. A hero like one of the mane six. Another character like Trixie or Derpy. It will be interesting seeing what MLP characters they meet, and seeing how they will feel, and think about the duo.
Anyway here's some ideas for how the duo could either befriend or make enemies out of Daring Do or Ahuizotl.
Daring and Ahuizotl could both become enemies to the duo. With both of them also after the emerald Blaze and Silver are hunting. Daring wanting to keep it out of the wrong hands/hoof. While Ahuizotl wants to use for his own evil plans.
Another path you take is just one of them turns out to be a enemy. While the other turns out to be a unexpected ally.
I figure you could either have them befriend Daring Do who at first wants to stop them from getting the emerald. The duo could save her life to her shock. While at first wary of them she end's up befriending them. This is kind of cliche i know. But i'm having trouble thinking of different way they could become friends with Daring Do.
Now as for they could instead befriend Ahuizotl. He could actually turn out to be a huge fan of the duo.
From what i can guess from the summary. Blaze and Silver caused a worldwide disaster, and have as result become some of the most infamous villains in Equestrian history. Probably in some of the other countries history as well since it was a worldwide disaster. Hmm hope we find out how their regarded by the other species that live in the world.
Anyway in this universe the legends of the duo's exploits could what have inspired Ahuizotl to become a villain. After all even feared villains probably had heroes growing up. He could be after the Emeralds because he know's their connected to the duo. He could hope that retrieving and presenting them to the duo will impress them.
Actually this gives me another idea. Diamond Tiara could become a huge fan of Blaze. While i haven't really played Sonic Rush, and it's only been one chapter so we don't know much about this version of Blaze. From what i've read i can't help but think Diamond Tiara would probably look up to Blaze after she meet's her. Sort of like how Scootaloo look's up to Dash.
Finally i have a idea regarding the Dazzlings from Rainbow Rocks. What if Blaze and Silver met a trio of orphaned sisters a while after they came to Equestria. The sirens could have been the around the CMC age's or younger. Anyway the duo could have ended up adopting and raising the Dazzlings. Now i know Silver and Blaze aren't a couple. Heck from what i've read. If you are planning on pairing them together. It won't happen till much later in the story. If it happens at all. Anyway the Dazzlings could have come to see Silver and Blaze as their parents. Even if Blaze and Silver weren't together. Maybe the Dazzlings could have tried to get them together though. The duo's defeat and imprisonment could have been the reason the sisters spread chaos in Equestria. They we're planning on avenging their defeat and freeing them.
