Why did I write this? IDK
Is it any good? IDK
Is it ridiculously generic? Probably
Is it wrong to assume that Applejack's parents are dead? Yes
Does that mean I shouldn't? No
Happy Mother's Day? Happy Mother's Day.

Not sure why I wrote this fic, or what I was trying to get at with it, but here it is.

You probably won't understand the ending.

Looks like this is coming out AFTER mother's day because it's so far up the queue and got approved so late. Oh well, looks like we'll all just have to deal with it.

Wait....Applejacks mom....didn't die? :rainbowhuh:

This story made me happy :pinkiehappy: and sad :fluttercry: at the same time.....

You're not assuming she's dead. We just don't know. We haven't heard a darn thing about them in the show, so you're just elaborating on possibilities.
There's nothing wrong with that in my books.
Also, I'm not sure what to make of the ending, but I think that's what you were going for.
Either way, it's a great piece. I love how you go into detail about what each of the mane 6 are doing for the day, and how it's all wonderfully in character.
Good show.
Edit: The tiniest of typos I just notice now. The last sentence doesn't have a comma.
I've been thinking more on the significance of Applejack looking into the empty field behind her. That's in there for a reason, but I can't put my finger on it. Is it symbolic? For the empty life AJ left behind of wallowing in self-pity to looking forward and being happy for the times she and her mother had together?
You've got me thinking hard, TO.

If it's any consolation, it's still Mother's Day where I am.

And you're right about not understanding the ending. I am confused, but regardless this was a nice little piece regarding Mother's Day.

that ending... i did get it... well im pretty sure i do.

Favorited. When I saw the title and the accompanying picture, I had to read it. My Mom has been passed for several years now, and Mother's Days since then are always very painful to me, being surrounded by friends and people talking about what they're doing for the day. I don't care if the ending doesn't make sense, this piece made my day a little better.

Actually, Faust confirmed that her own canon is that the parents are dead, but followed it up with the usual "Don't listen to anything I say because I'm not involved" disclaimer.

I enjoyed this story alot. However, be careful, because the middle part was a little repetitive. Ironically, I had posted a similar story a few minutes before I saw yours, but with Twilight instead.

"To put it bluntly, we just never figured it out. I just liked the feeling of them living with their Granny, but keeping the family dynamic tight and small. To be honest, I would like to simply say that they passed away somehow, but it's just too sad for a kids' show and I don't think it would have ever been approved. There was brief discussion of them being traveling salesponies or explorers, but since we never needed the information in an episode, nothing was ever made official. So it will have to remain a mystery until someone decides to define it."

Eh, I think them living with Granny inherently suggests they're dead....or worse. Then again, I hail from a community where its terribly common for kids to be raised by their grandparents because Mom n Dad are either dead, strung out, or locked up. Sigh.

Yerp, that would be interview I read.

A little short but thumbs up

Sadly for me this only brought up some bad memories, good ones as well but my mothers day has changed and will stay that way for a long time.
But it's a good story, happy and sad at the same time.
Thanks

She's dead, the end was a memory

When I wanted to see some mothers day stories I get this?...:yay: I liked it

Touching. I´m guessing the ending is more metaphorical than anything but touchign not the less. I like it!

I dont understand why so many guys think they are dead. I still think they´re settlers or something like that and they´re somewhere in Equestria to found a new Farm and village. And they let Applejack and Macintosh stay on Sweet Apple Acres so they could help Granny Smith and someday take care of the farm on their own. Apple Bloom is there probably to help too or because their parents wanted that their children are together.

I enjoyed this. It mostly made me sad because I thought of myself standing at the many graves of my extended family (cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles) with a feeling of nothing more than solemnity. 'Course, I've never lost a parent or anything like we assume Applejack has.

I kind of do think that the ending is a memory but who knows? :applejackunsure:

And of course I'm pretty sure Applejack's parents will always be assumed to be dead since at least for now they serve no purpose to any sort of plot, but who knows maybe Season 3 will change that? :twilightsheepish:

The end is a memory, "She galloped toward the pony as fast as her SHORT legs could take her." "Applejack leaped into the air and embraced the pony, her hooves BARELY TOUCHING on the other side of the pony's neck." Applejacks remembering running to and hugging her mother when she was a filly.:derpytongue2:

My heart sank when i saw the picture, but this was a great story.:pinkiesad2:

Celestia damn it...

You made a tough marine bi*ch cry. I hope you're happy. Jerk. :pinkiesad2::fluttercry::applecry:

THIS.... was a good, sad story.:raritycry: Even I can't deny that, I was a little confused about the ending:rainbowhuh:, but it was one of those kind of endings that you kind of don't care how or why it happened. All and all I loved it.

Good fic, but picture confuses me. Isn't that Rainbow Dash's feather? :rainbowhuh:

602477 Not many other pictures that fit the fic existed. So oh well...

602477 *insert keanu reeves pic* What if Applejack's mother IS Rainbow Dash? DUN DUN DUNH

That was a nice, short little story. Well done

As for the story, it was a good one. Not too short, not too long, just right. Thanks:twilightsmile:
:coolphoto:

The ending seems unfinished and it seems to be missing a lot of potential emotion. Keep it up though.:ajsleepy:

The ending is incredibly unfinished and needs expansion as well as a whole lot of soaking-wet emotional laundry.

What happened in the end?

I'm pretty sure the ending is Applejack's memory of her only Mother's Day with her mom. It even says that Applejack started to think about the past. It would be nice if her mother had come to visit her as a ghost, but I think it's best as it is, with it ending as Applejack's memory.
