Twilight Sparkle has been a faithful student at the School for Gifted Unicorns for a number of months now. She has proven to be more than worthy of being Princess Celestia's apprentice and the time has now come to share with Twilight the importance of hatching Spike while eluding towards the future efforts in which Celestia hopes her prized student will accomplish.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on this work. It was inspired by a combination of what I've learned through friends, being a father, and my experiences writing within the Brony community.

I'm hopeful my next work with relation to Spike will be like this one. I've done others but I'm actually happiest with this because it feels right rather than being silly. If you have any ideas of where a continuation should take place I'm definitely open to hearing your thoughts. :)

Right in the feels.

Oh my ! :raritystarry: Spikey wikey's egg took hundreds of years to hatch?

Yep. He's way too old for you Rarity:twilightblush:

Thank you. It really was my goal to make this story all about the importance of companionship with an emphasis on the maternal bond between mother and child.

Your time in reading this story is very appreciated. Have a wonderful day. :)

Hurray! That is what I was really trying for with this story. I'm very happ;y you liked it. :)

Thanks for your time in reading and commenting.

I liked it but Twilight didn't know about Luna til they beat Nightmare Moon right? She was told Nightmare Moon was an old pony tale in episode 1 but still great story

Whoops! Thanks for pointing out that faux pas. :) I try to keep with canon as much as possible, but I also get so caught up in a story that I can forget.

I'm glad you liked the story and took the time to comment. I'll definitely be more thoughtful in my forthcoming posts to ensure I keep with the canon as much as possible. Thanks for helping me to keep working towards being a better writer. :)

This was so touching and sweet. I'd love to see more.

Holy cow, this is quite a warm story, and from the replies here it's got quite a warm backstory, too.

Celestia and Twilight are both really well written, particularly the way Twilight speaks.... I can hear her pitching upwards at the end of a lot of the sentences in this story. Got her inflection nailed, as well as Celesta's soft-spoken delivery. I can feel the intention behind Celestia' word choice.

Being a parent is a sort of challenge not all of us here can relate to, but holding hope in your hands (or hooves in this case) that you can show the way through examples of kindness and compassion... that's powerful. It's something people can understand. Life is hope, and they seem to be optimistic towards the chances they're taking raising a dragon. This story does a good job of portraying the responsibility of parenthood. Also it's a good thing Celestia's there to help, and she technically has two students now -- Twilight and Spike, as she watches them both grow, making their own decisions in her eternal existence.

All in all awesome. Liked and fav'd.
