Despondent and injured, Rainbow Dash lies in Ponyville Hospital after an attempt to take her own life. There, she encounters Pipsqueak, recovering from an accident of his own. To entertain themselves, Rainbow tells the young colt an epic tale of six heroes on a quest for revenge. But thanks to her fractured state of mind and his vivid imagination, the boundaries between fantasy and reality begin to blur as the tale advances.

Hmm, interesting stuff so far.
A lot of questions came up for me during this chapter. I'm sure the answers are down the line, so I'll look forward to them.
The only semi negative thing I can say, is the formatting gets a little messed up from time to time by cutting a paragraph in half, and putting the second half into a new paragraph. That and a few spaces being missed between paragraphs. Nothing major, and it certainly didn't detract from the story for me any. Just thought I'd let you know.
I'm interested to see where you take this. You have a very intriguing concept going here.

Well actually, just a heads up to y'all: This fic is undergoing a fairly major editing to become EqD-standard (I'm determined to get a second fic on EqD). So the next chapter may take a while (Exams aren't helping much either), And if some things seem to come out of nowhere or not make much sense in the story as you know it, go back and check the previous chapters, because I've probably changed something back there somewhere. I'm editing the story quite a bit to improve it.
That said, I'm hoping to get the first bit of this done, and the next chapter, up by this weekend. Stay tuned!

Other than that, though, I rather enjoyed it. You're good at invoking vivid imagery, and I like the use of coloured text to differentiate between fantasy and reality (at least for now). I'm looking forward to where this story is going.

i have to admit that despite the setting with RD being suicidal and breaking a wing this story is above the average "rainbow is sad and want to kill herself" and "rainbow lost her wing in <insert way> and is teribly sad, possibly suicidal" story. tracking in order to see how it develops.

haha, funny story about my read-through of this fic:
i had downloaded it to my eReader, and was reading it on there during school, but somehow the DL must have been interupted and the file in my eReader ended during the first quarter of this final chapter. it really freaked me out, because i remember this story being tagged as complete, and my eReader adamantly said that i had finished the story, yet it hadn't actually ended yet! so i spent the rest of the day freaking out until i could get home and see what was up. i was extremely relieved to see that the story had a proper ending and that everything made sense.
anyways, great fic, had fun reading!
I've been meaning to read this for a while now, but kept putting it off for whatever reason. I'm glad I finally checked it out. I'm really enjoying this so far - Pip's and Dash's interaction was pretty adorable. I can really see them getting along well together, too, the way you write them. Hopefully the storytelling sessions prove to be mutually beneficial and Dash can recover emotionally as well as physically. Well, anywho, onward to the next chapter!
Hmm, I wonder who Dash was dating? One of the other Mane 6? And was the stunt-pony her dad or something? Now I'm beginning to wonder if Dash'll be "healed" by the end of this thing. Only way to know is to keep reading, I suppose, so onward!

Dang it, you totally had me with the old guy's death. For a few seconds I thought it'd been Dash. I find it a little harder to be invested in the reason for Dash's suicide attempt (aka her lover leaving her) because its an OC. Or what I'm assuming is an OC - I can't remember if there's an actual pony in the show fitting that description. I must be too used to Mane 6 shipping

Aw! Happy conclusion! I can see why her love interest was an OC, now. One of the Mane 6 wouldn't be such an ass (we can only hope, anyway). Overall, this was a very good read. It kept me at the edge of my seat, and Pip is just adorable. I'm glad I finally gave this a look - it was well worth it

I love the concept here, but the execution just isn't there. The portion of Rainbow's story drags too much, and a lot of it could have been removed or trimmed without great loss to the overall story. There is also the issue of how the suicide angle is introduced — it is just too sudden, too unsuported by the rest of the story. Finally, the ending, where instead of Rainbow moving on from her failed romance, she goes on pretending that everything is, essentially, OK, makes it look like she learned nothing from this whole ordeal.
