Dreams and magic have always shared a close bond, with one being able to affect the other. But Twilight Sparkle sees no reason to delve into the uncertain territory of dream or sleep-related magic, for it holds no interest for her. Yet one night, while Twilight slumbers, the astral plane opens before her. She is taken on a journey outside of her body, a journey of discovery and knowledge that cannot be found in any book.
Note: This one-shot was inspired by "Astral Plane", a recent episode of the Cartoon Network animated show Adventure Time
Technically a slice of life fan fiction as well, but for some reason I can't put it under both "Adventure" and "Slice of Life".
I really enjoyed this. It captured the ethereal yet thought invoking tone of Adventure Time episode but you also took the time to make it its own entity.
My favourite parts were Big Mac and Harshwhinny. I like to think of Big Mac as an intellectual that willing chose a life of simplicity and the idea of him being able to astral project like that is quite cool. The Harshwhinny side was also quite interesting just in it explored the idea of her rigid personality actually being a condition rather than her just being slightly more uptight and snotty than most.
I also think that it was a nice touch Twilight taking the time to interact in some way with the ponies she witnessed on the Astral plane, it brought a nice sense closure.
I will admit that my headcannon now is that Star Swirl's spirit is currently floating over equestria, thinking about bells.
A highly enjoyable read
i really liked that, it was interesting and the ending was really nice
id ask for a sequel but im not sure how you would continue this
you have however earned my favorite and an upvote
This was a damn a good read you sir/ma'am earned youself a follow.
Any possibilities of more of this coming out? It was simply scrumptious.
5599643 This is only a one-shot. Although, considering the large number of ponies in Equestria with stories to be discovered, I might write a sequel at some point in the future.
Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here.
5682801 No, I hadn't thought of that. I might just do that if I get the chance
This is relevant:
Great story, a real thought provoker, and if you do make a sequel, I'm definitely reading it.
My only (small) complaint is the lack of spaces between paragraphs but besides that, it's perfect.
That was so beautiful that I cried when Iread that last part
